My 4th entry for 25 Years of LoZ challenge. I decided to do Byrne. I wanted to draw him a long time ago, back when I first played the game, cause I thought he was pretty awesome, but as said before, on the piece of paper where I had drawn Link and Zelda, there was no room left for him.
Well, seems like poor Byrne has 'fitting properly on paper' issues with me xD
I draw most of my works in my notebook, and for chibis like Byrne here, I draw two chibis per page, one on the upper part of the page, and one on the lower part of it. Byrne shares a page with Fi, and if you can tell from the picture, on the bottom there is a bit of Fi's point from her hair, and Byrne's top of his ponytail ended up getting cut off on the page because he was too far up the page.
I couldnt help it though, if I had placed him an inch or two lower so that the rest of his hair could fit, he wouldve been standing on Fi's head! I dont think she would have been too happy about that.
Also, back before when I wanted/tried to draw Byrne, he was really hard to draw, mainly because he has a different shaped head than most things. Instead of a circle shape, its more of a rectangle/oval shape, which Im not used to drawing. I had a hard time with his proportions, because he has such a wide chest and everything, and that I had to make sure he wasnt gonna squish Fi. But once I got his gauntlet hand drawn, it went pretty easily from there.
Now a little bit about why I like Byrne. When you first meet him with Chancellor Cole, I already thought he looked pretty awesome. And fighting him is so fun too! His gauntlet thing is cool too. Though he was evil in the begining of the game, he eventually turns good, which you also have to give him credit for. Im surprised not many people have drawn him, I think he's another character that needs more spotlight and recognization. Enjoy~
