An everyday occurrence in the African wild, the zebra are the prey and the lions are their enemies. That is a fact of nature that has been in place for hundred-thousands of years. Here I have centaur equivalents to these animals. Though they look like the human natives from this great continent, the zebra-centaur is only related to his equine brethren, just as the lioness-centaurs are relative only to their lion kin.
Here is a pride of lioness sisters on the pursuit of this zebra. One lioness crawls out of the cover to distract him. Her hope is to have him keep his attention on her solely, long enough for her sisters to sneak in for a sudden attack. If this works, this zebra won't spot the danger quick enough to defend himself.
If they succeed in killing him, he'll serve as a meal to the rest of the pride. If he spots them and flees, they will be disappointed but not discouraged. They'll just find a victim less wary of them.
