I've been around a very long time,
I have witnessed humanities birth,
I've seen what you do,
You don't appreciate the Earth.
Our kind once existed,
But you will never know,
For it is now your time,
to live and to grow.
A forest to us,
is an ancient graveyard,
But to you, an adventure,
Where you carve names in our bark.
I am the last of my kind,
Though we will always be around,
I am the last of the trees,
Not rooted to the ground.
