Here is the "manga cover" for my story, Destination.
The following is a summary (copied and pasted from a Word document containing the story):
This is the story of Keba, an orphaned fox demon who is being chased by a dark demon. She is tired of running for her life and hiding from this other demon and is lonely. Help comes to her in the form of a human, of all things, who was told by a heavenly being to protect Keba.
This is a story of fantasy and adventure, but at its heart, it is a love story. It is not a story of romantic love or family love, but of a special kind of love that cannot be defined.
Destination is "an autobiography of my feelings", so it’s a very personal story that I hold quite dear to me. If you notice, I share a name with the main character, Keba. Do not think of it as me writing myself into the story. Instead, think of me as taking the name of the character to use as my own.
Looking back, the plot is kind of weak. Yes, there are a few more elements than I mentioned, but it's not the most interesting thing in the world. I was going more for character development. I also thought that it would be an interesting role reversal in that a human character is protecting a demon character.
I haven't actually finished the story. I wrote the first six incredibly short chapters back in 2007, but haven't added anything since. It became emotionally painful to write. I finally worked up the courage to reread the story, but by then, my drive to write it was gone. I don't know if that drive will come back, but anything is possible.
Credits!!!
Materials used: Pencil, eraser, colored pencils, ink pens, sketch paper.
Program used: Adobe Photoshop CS5
Font used: Viner Hand ITC Regular
Inspiration: Keba originated as an Inuyasha fan character that soon took on a life of her own. Her original design was inspired by the character Shippou, but again, it changed over time.
I named the human character, Jon, after (you guessed it) Jon Bon Jovi, whom I love and adore. Betcha couldn't tell by all the band art in my Portfolio. His character was created by the question, "What if Jon Bon Jovi never became famous?" Then the character was thrown into this fantasy situation. Yeah, that's how my one-track mind works.
Other credits: I used Behind the Name for many of the names for the cast. The name "Keba" came from a friend of mine who encouraged me to make an Inuyahsa fan character in the first place.
