I picked the theme for day 8 which was to make a character reference sheet. 'Cause they're fun.
For this one, I picked Dice. I must be on a Survival Instincts kick. I filled up the page so much that I couldn't scan it all. His name is cut off at the top. If you can't read my notes due to my tiny, scribbley handwriting, just ask and I shall translate.
I colored this one because I made reference to his yellow eyes. So then I felt obligated to color his eyes. Then I felt obligated to color the rest of him. But I kind of did a sloppy job. For the most part, I didn't layer different colors over each other as I usually do. Hey, gimme a break; I'm way behind.
Some of the drawings are bigger than others. I started on the left and worked to the right, but as time went on, the drawings got smaller. That's why his "confused face" is so small. Still, I like the way it looks. I should draw him confused more often.
From drawing this, I learned something: his hair is SO HARD to get right. Adding more volume to his hair makes him look too young. And then there's the problem of spiking it just right. Of course, after all that painstaking work of drawing and erasing, I totally messed it up when I colored over his hair in black.
Tools used:
- Pencil
- Eraser
- Sketch paper
- Colored pencils
- Photoshop CS5 (for minor touch-ups)
Dice belongs to me. I can't think of anything else fancy to say on this subject.
