This is a tribute I made to my all time favorite band Breaking Benjamin and delving into my absolute favorite topic- Insanity. It takes their song "Lights Out" quite literally as we see a young man with a demon-like monster protruding from his head. If you follow along the back wall, you see the lyrics to the song's chorus being aggressively written along taped up paper, then moved onto the actual wall, and finally with what is assumed to (hopefully) be his own blood rather than ink. This, along with other repetitive phrasing and numerous tally marks, suggest a mind deteriorating at being shut in and left to their own thoughts for an extended period of time. If you look at the game of hangman in the lower right corner, you'll see that the letters make out the name of the song. Also, if you look in the upper right, you'll spot the band's symbol in a light blue. Their symbol, which is basically four Bs mirroring eachother and overlapping, has always made me think of a flower. I thought this kind of little connection could be something I could easily incorporate into the mind constantly jarred and "seeing things", so you'll notice the entire back wall is littered with them. Considering the subtle evidence of a split personality (the constant yes no yes writing on the bricked up window) and various 2 player games sporting the wall, you have to ask. Is this man going insane? Or is there really a monster in his head?
Song: Lights Out Band: Breaking Benjamin Album: Dear Agony
Chorus lyrics:
Now you wanna take me down
as if I even care
I am the monster in your head
And I thought you'd learn by now
it seems you haven't yet
I am the venom in your skin
And now your life is broken
