Whoop! Finally finished this piece. It's a birthday gift for one of my best friends (in real life). I haven't given it to her yet, she's not in town at the moment.
I'll explain how I made it. I made a 2cm thin slice of wood with a saw, I let it dry for one night. The day before I had drawn the image on a piece of paper and I transferred the image on the wood by covering the back of the image with charcoal and then with a pencil I went over the lines. Thus the charcoal got on the wood. Lastly I used a soldering iron to burn the wood itself. I had to do burn it in 'dots' because the iron was not hot enough to simply draw a line and burn the wood.
It's the first time I did woodburning, it was fun to do, though time-consuming. Oh and it's about 25 cm in diameter. Unfortunately the wood cracked last night when it was still unfinished. At least it's only the wings :)
