Kita picked a very clever idea for day 20. It was to draw in a different artist's style.
The artist's style I tried to mimic was that of Takeshi Obata who illustrated Death Note, Hikaru no Go, and (I think) Bakuman. Don't quote me on that last one, though. In fact, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, I picked his style because I think it's more realistic than most. And I love how he draws hair that doesn't look like some random shape on a person's head.
As my subject matter, I picked my character, Jon from Destination. If you couldn't tell, I drew him in my own style on the left, for comparison's sake. Is it said that I had to use one of my older drawings of him as a reference? I can't draw him from memory like I used to.
I started out with the Takeshi Obata version of Jon. Man, that was hard. I think I admire the way he draws hair so much is because I JUST CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW HE DOES IT. Although I don't think I failed at trying to emulate his style, I don't think it looks much like my character anymore.
Tools used:
- Pencil
- Eraser
- Sketch paper
I'm not sure whether this is a tool or not, but I scanned through Vol 1 of Death Note for references.
I made this picture available for wallpaper and card use. I don't know why. Just don't steal it. But I'm not sure why anyone would do that either.
