I've been wanting to learn the traditional Irezumi tattoo style for awhile, and finally decided to do so this week. This style is incredibly complex and a little confusing since it's alot of swirls and turbulence of the base blue-black pattern, topped with waves, flowers, koi fish, dragons, etc. Had to redo this a couple times since I didn't have a consistent flow throughout. Overall pretty happy with how it turned out, and not bad for my first crack at it lol I designed it for my OC Natsuko, since in her clan/school of swordsmanship these tattoos are kind of a graduation or right of passage. Every graduate gets one on their left arm as a full sleeve, and each is unique. Which means I have to eventually design one for her father Zanshin, and her son Ken. Next week I'll be drawing Natsuko in a battle pose showing this off!
