I was drawing Zelda the other day and I realized I was sick of drawing her in the same outfit over and over again. It's not so much drawing it I mind as coloring it, actually-it's all just gray and black and blue, so boring! So just for fun I designed her a new outfit, though she may never wear it. In some ways this one's closer to some of the very early sketches of Zelda from two years ago.
I'm really digging those boots. Seriously, if Zelda never wears the boots in the comic, I may design a new character that does wear them just so I can keep drawing them. I've been reading this Dark Horse comic called Bounty that has some pretty sweet sci-fi boots, which is probably what had me thinking about cool boots.
While I was designing the boots, I was thinking about Jet from Cowboy Bebop. His arm's not all angles like a robot's, it looks organic even though it's obviously metal. I'm pretty pleased with how I drew them. The coloring looks really nice, and the ink has a Jack Kirby vibe going. Honestly, I think this is one of the most successful drawings I've done in a long time.
