This is for Keba Si Rota's Draw My Music, Win My Music challenge. When I read the title "Fell In Love With A Rock Star", I thought, "Oh, I've been there". I've had so many moments in my life where a rock band or a song just clicked for me, and it made me see everything differently. I've had so many moments like that. I could have chosen the time I listened to the same U2 song over and over again because it was just so perfect and made me want to be a rocker when I grew up. I could have chosen the first time I heard a punk rock song. I could have chosen the ridiculous Beatles obsession I went through in the seventh grade. I could have chosen four-year-old me telling a room full of distinguished grown-ups at my parent's college reunion that my favorite song was Diamond Dogs by David Bowie (true story ). But I decided to go with the Ramones because heck, it's the Ramones. I mean, I really did buy a black leather jacket because I wanted to look like a Ramone! I've done paintings of them, I play their songs, I even named my blog after a Ramones song. They're kind of a big deal, y'know? Anyway, where I was going with this was that rock and roll is a big deal. Keba, I wish you all the best in your journey to rock stardom. May you inspire love and fun and excitement and ridiculous rock star anecdotes and just generally be a badass. It's a big, mean, awful world. We need more rock and roll.
