It's been a while since I did one, so here we go <3 What do YOU think?
I was in my last art class in high school. I had taken two other art classes the year before, so I gained seniority over most of the other students and was allowed to do my own thing instead of following the criteria (since I went through the exact same one twice). I stayed with mostly graphite and colored pencils. I did do a couple of paintings, but they are crap lol I was solely a traditional artist. The second image won an honorable mention in a competition.
I graduated this year, so I lost access to good materials. I stuck with mechanical pencils and colored pencils from when I was in 5th grade >.> I experimented with MS Paint. A majority of those were permanently deleted though, but the far right image is the only survivor.
Got my first tablet, Wacom Bamboo, and MSD4. It was REALLY ROUGH. Like eye sore rough o.o So there was a BUNCH of practicing. I was spitting out drawings like a machine that year. The last image was my most popular for a VERY long time because it was 40+/- OCs grouped together.
I began practicing soft shading and thinner lines. I could only get so far in MSD4 since its brushes were extremely limited. The second image was my original designs for my current Season Gijinkas btw
I got a copy of Photoshop 7 and learned just HOW limited MSD4 was. I began lining in MSD4 and coloring in PS7 and I feel like this was the best decision I made at the time. Seriously, Look at the difference!
I lost internet and, on top of being denied from an Artist Alley, I lost interest in drawing for a while. I ended up eventually just doing a bunch of requests and trades this year. It was a dark year for me.
After recovering from being inactive and a big baby last year, I began becoming extremely active. I did more art trades and requests and began doing art for myself again.
I redesigned my Season Gijinkas, took a few commissions, and did two monthly challenges this year. I had lots of fun and was even more active than last year due to getting a mobile hotspot to replace my lost internet. A lot of growing happened this year.
I began experimenting with doing full pictures in PS7 (but I decided it was too difficult for many reasons). I spent more time on soft shading and practiced lighting. ALSO, I made the decision to work towards professional this year and I am currently building a business around my art :) Towards the end of the year, I got Clip Studio Paint Pro. BEST DESCISION EVER. Seriously, I am in love with this program, I'm not even sure if I want to return to PS7. I can already feel the improvement....I'm so excited for 2017!!!
Comparing 2010 to 2016, I CAME A LONG WAY <3 However, I'm not entirely sure of 2015 to 2016. Opinions?
