Boy how time flies, another end of year. So I never did a winter season thing before. Checklist crossed.
Coloring and shading is one thing, but here is one thing I never considered when drawing my illustrations before. I never took the time pick the right colors. What I mean is that before, I thought “Red is red and blue is just blue” and “I can make any color work”. Well, technically that is correct. However, some reds and some blues are just plain horrible (base colors). Tinting and blowing out highlights or shadows, maybe could work. So why am I now thinking about this? I thought that my skill level was good enough to color. It turns out I never gave the it same focus compared to other techniques I learned. I always wondered why some artists spend so much time on coloring learning. Now I know. TBH, good coloring skills can mask any line art, anatomy, perspective, etc mistakes.
Basically, the saturation and brightness value of any given color will make or break your coloring. Chose wisely, my friends. Also, This is the first time I did any "real" color grading.
BTW, drawing fur sucks a$$. I took A LOT of time. Worth every minute tho.
As always:
