To summarise what I did: I started off with a basic peach tone for the base colour and started with white highlights and a slightly yellow tinge for shadows. Once I had finished this, I used a dark purple for shadows to create a strong contrast. This was used mainly for the cheekbones and under the eyes to create a less plump appearance, as though the character had been starved.
Throughout this entire task I used Gaussian Blur and the smudge button to create a somewhat smoother texture without ruining the look. Then, once I was satisfied with the look, I went into variations and chose a yellow midtone at a darker level before switching to shadows and making the shadows slightly redder. Already, the character does not look well, but this is just the start.
