People often say that eyes are doors to the soul. In this case, this is completely correct. To start with, I used a bright red for the tear ducts and a light yellow for the actual eyeballs (please note that the bottom of the eye is usually darker than the top). After I had blended this a small amount I took a small brush and started scribbling in red veins to create a sense of inflammation before smudging slightly. Once this was done, I started working on the irises. There is nothing especially significant about the eyes other than the largeness of the pupils (being in a dark place really long) and the single highlight. I considered using no highlight at all, but this did not look right in this image so I stuck with just the one. On a further note, I added more lines under the eyes to show insomnia. I did this with a small brush before blending in.
