Prompt 2: Wendigo
The monster prompt was Wendigo and this is the finished drawing. I will probably not post this one in my gallery. It'll only be displayed here in the sketchbook.
A wendigo is a mythological creature/evil spirit from Native folklore.
It's usually a cannibalistic creature.
There's a lot of lore on it that I'm not sure where to begin.
The first time I heard of it was on a show called Fear Itself: Skin and Bones. It was an episodic horror series that came out back in 2008. I remember my siblings and I were so freaked out watching this episode, but it was good.
Anyways I know modern wendigos are depicted with deer skulls or have antlers, which I included to be recognizable, but the original description has them depicted as very skinny creatures with gray skin, glowing eyes and missing lips. I kind of wanted to have mix if that.
I have read in some articles that although they eat, they are never satisfied and keep seeking out prey. They also grow in size, and for some reason I imagine them getting as big as a Moose every time they eat and that freaks me out.
Anyways this was prompt 2 for the Monster prompts, and it turned out to be one of my favorite drawings.
