When they say, "Guard" they're referring to the person(s) that Guardian is assigned to. The girl from page 2 is Yosei's Guard, and Yosei is her Guardian. Get it? Hence the title: Guardian Angels. YEAH!

By the way, in that last panel, No, Yosei isn't hypnotized, he's shocked and scared so badly, he's been scared stiff and is probably about to pee his pants... lol.
