INTRODUCTION
Last year, I introduced The Anime Song Parody Challenge, which gave theOtaku members a challenge to create their own anime-based song parodies. Though it only had 4 entries, it was still a success since it had entries.
The top entry during that time was AutoMail Limbs, a Fullmetal Alchemist song parody by tiggerola using the tune of Queen's "We Will Rock You". Not only was this the top entry, but this was also performed in an anime convention with Vic Mignogna. Yes, otaku people, the famed anime voice actor Vic Mignogna! (Click here for YouTube link.)
Now it's your turn to have fun and make your own song parody.
YOUR TASK
To create a song parody about an anime series of your choice.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Choose a popular hit song to use. By popular, I mean a song that the general audience is familiar of. It can be classic hits from the '60s to the '90s, or the more recent hits of this decade. That means you can go use "Close to You" by the Carpenters, to "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson, or even "Telephone" by Lady Gaga. (Note: Please indicate what song you used.)
2. Choose an anime series that your song parody will center on.
3. Compose your song parody. Only one song parody per challenger.
4. Post the song parody in your own world. Remember to categorize your work in its appropriate category.
FAQ
1. Does the song parody have to be funny?
- No. This site defines parody as "a composition that imitates or misrepresents somebody's style, usually in a humorous way". So, you can go have a sad tone in your song.
2. Can I use profanities?
- Mild ones only. I want to let everyone be able to sing along without having to cuss so much.
CRITERIA FOR JUDGING
1. Grammar and spelling
2. Compliance with instructions
3. Originality
4. Clarity of intended message
5. Smooth flow of the tune with the lyrics
