So One Piece is going to start from the very beginning. Sounds interesting because we know there not going to skip some of the major arcs. Its nice to see Funimation so positive about the anime world.
It's nice to see Funimation coming out with a strong front and plenty of things on the table. An anime licensing company not simply playing defensive or losing all their fan-based projects is refreshing. It really does seem like they're picking up where ADV left off in them giving fans what they want.
It's also nice to hear that Funimation was able to talk with Japanese producers and actually get them to start to understand that we're not the Japanese market. I look forward to seeing more straight box set releases and sub only downloads a good bit before the DVDs hit shelves.
The marathon feature on the DBZ sets sounds like a great idea for sitting with a bunch of friends and letting the DVD play. I hope they implement that on all their DVDs.
I'm still a bit worried that Operation Anime might try and overextend itself like Anime Advocates did, particularly with the DVD screeners. I would just have clubs who register online access to a free digital download. Sending out a lot of free stuff may kill their budget, so I hope they have a way to pay for it all.
Getting a proper dub of One Piece from the beginning will be nice. Not sure I'll re-watch a series that long, but still. That statement was a lovely smack in the face to 4Kids, though it kinda could be misconstrued into them making as if the dub would even replace the sub in trueness to everything. *open mouth - insert foot*
I agree about Ouran. Just what would they cut? All the male shirtless scenes? No, I've got it. Toying with twincest could be too much for some little kiddies in other countries, just not the US. That's it.
It is nice to hear something different from that Lilian-person's viewpoint of the industry. This is what a panel is supposed to be like - stocked with those who actually know what they're talking about.
And it goes without saying that DVD sales would decrease as online sales rise. Not everyone needs to own two copies to be satisfied.
Thanks for the in-depth report.

Sounds like FUNi knows what they're doing. Fast, sub-only downloads in MPEG-4 (hopefully that means h.264) for around $2 per episode is exactly what I've been hoping to see for quite a while now. Here's to hoping they'll be DRM free and able to be redownloaded in case the file is lost.
It's nice to see a US licenser actually doing something to help themselves instead of just moaning about fansubs killing their business.
