I grew up on anime...it was sort of the bread and the wine for me...
I remember the first anime show I got into... Sailor Moon.
It was a show that any young girl would love. But of course, as you grow you must move on. I started watching Hamtaro after that. A cute little hamster, who left the house to visit his friends at the ham-ham clubhouse. Those two anime I found on my own; the real big one was introduced to me from my brother.
Pokemon.
I remember going to blockbuster with my mom and buying one of the Pokemon videos. I have all the very first season of videos, cards, pokedex, calculator, figures, and more. My brother spent all his childhood collecting the very rare cards and putting them in a binder. But when he was in 6th grade we moved and he lost the binder.
Now my brother is in college. Two months ago (May), my brother and I were in the crawl space looking for his hairdryer. We decided to look through our old toys and games. I decided to look in a trash bag full of his clothes....
Somewhere in the pile was a binder decorated with rare, legendary Pokemon on it...I looked through it, and awed at the shining, unbent or torn cards. Realizing what it was, I couldn't speak out for my brother. I went to the last page to find the rare Mew card I given to him years ago. Finally I could speak. I yelled out to my brother. He thought I tripped and fell over something and needed aid.
I got up and put the binder behind my back. He came up to me and asked, "What's wrong?" I said, "You'll never guess what's behind my back!" He gave me a smirk and said, "What? My old teddy bear?"
I held out the binder and he started screaming. He grabbed the binder and started looking through it. He was yelling about how he lost it and bragging about the years it took to collect all of these. Also, how he told all his friends but they never believed him. We both started to cry. This was the
happiest moment of our lives.
Anyway, back to my story about MY life. After the Pokemon thing went through my school, in 4th grade I and others started to watch...Yu Gi Oh. I spent the WHOLE year trying to get the three blue eyes white dragons and the blue eyes ultimate dragon. By the end of 4th grade I had the strongest deck in the whole class, but I refused to play. I didn't want anyone ever stealing my cards. When the movie came out, I went 4 times just so I could get each card, and I did.
Also during 4th grade, my friend Andy was drawing the characters from Naruto. I didn't understand any of it. But by 5th grade it was huge, so I started to watch it on TV. After a few episodes I told my mom to watch it with me. Now we both love it and watch the new episode every week. Also in 5th grade I started a Naruto club where we would practice the handsigns and memorize jutsus. We had it that you were a character from Naruto and we would fight each other. I was Kakashi, since I was teaching everyone. I started to like Gaara when my friend, Trey, joined and he was Gaara. Later on in the year, a boy named Grant told me about "Shipuuden". He saw every episode so far. I got jealous and started to watch it on Youtube.
Last summer I went to Texas by myself to see my other brother. When I flew back I met a girl on the plane. Her name was Megan. She didn't watch Naruto, but she read it online. So after that I went online to, onemanga.com. And I found the place were I left off from Shipuuden. Now I read the update ever Friday. My mom didn't like it because I would tell her about the future. She wanted to keep it as a surprise.
I spent weeks trying to find the perfect anime website I could talk about it to. So one day I typed in, "Naruto ecards" on google. And I found...
TheOtaku.com
I didn't sign up at first. But after awhile I had great ideas for ecards so I just had to sign up. Later on my parents bought a scanner/printer for me to draw and send in my art. which I have been doing since then. I started my, "Are You Addicted to Naruto" series. When theOtaku Version Vibrant came to play, I started to notice a new anime I never seen before: "Death Note".
After a boy named, Joao' told me about it I couldn't resist but to read it.
So on spring break, my dad and I flew down to Texas to be with my brother again. I spent my whole vacation reading the manga. I couldn't stop, I loved it. And I got my dad interested (he hates anime).
So just a few days ago, my dad recorded the first episode on TV and we sat down and watched it. I couldn't tell if he liked it or not, but it did keep his attention.
So that was my anime life. In the near future I hope I start to read "Full Metal Alchemist" and "Bleach" .
Same as always,
Noelle
