Introduction
The first of several requested "How-To" make-up guides, this one covers the basics of scratch style (superficial) cut applications. For simplicity, I'll call them cuts from here on out.
Stats:
Difficulty Level: 2
Time to Complete: 5-10 Min
Supplies:
- White cream make-up (cheap clown palette with white will work fine).
- Navy blue (or similar shade) eye shadow powder.
- Red blush powder.
- Medium pink blush powder.
- Make-up brush set (cheap dollar store set is fine), eye shadow brush, and fine-tipped brush.
- toothpick, pinstripe brush, or other fine-tipped (dull tip please), implement.
- Mirror
Process:
Step 1:
Use toothpick or other fine-tipped applicator to keep the line thin, apply a line of white cream make-up the length and shape of the desired cut.
Step 2:
load fine-tipped brush with red blush powder, apply to white line, being careful to keep the red as close to the white line as possible.
Step 3:
Use fingertip to pick up a small amount of navy eye shadow. Lightly apply blue directly over the red line. The blue should barely be visible, and kept right on top of the red. Be careful not to apply too much blue here, the cute will look more like a bruise if too much is applied.
Step 4:
Load the eye shadow brush with the medium pink blush powder. Dust over entire cut with medium pink, bending out from cut.
Notes:
Practice applying different amounts of red, blue and medium pink to vary look of cuts.
If you have a darker skin tone, you may find substituting a red-brown color for the red will produce more natural looking results.
The shape of cuts can be varied. or matched to a particular, letter, number, or object.
Varying the amounts of red and blue(remember, too much blue will make a cut look like a bruise) can add realism and depth to cuts.
