I just watched the first episode, and they are DEFIANTLY rushing it. And I mean that quite literally. I just watched at least ten different chapters alone in the first 10 minutes! Sigh...
At least they are finishing it, but I was hoping they would make more episodes then this...GrumbleGrumble
But I will say this, the animation is MUCH better in my opinion, its on YouTube already and Megavideo, and Hulu.com if anyone wants to watch. It is English subbed in Hulu, not on YouTube though, right now, there is no English dubbed at the moment.
But still its InuYasha! I can;t wait for the next episode and once they're dubbed!

I had a potentially insane thought regarding casting for Johann (assuming that a "name" person is cast):
Johnny Yong Bosch.
I think it could be really interesting in a number of ways.
1) He would be playing completely against type ... and at the same time, he wouldn't be. (As far as I know, the only villains he has played are Lelouch and Rossiu. Both are arguable villains, and neither is certainly anywhere near as villainous as Johann.) If you distill Johann down to the simplest level, he is the answer to the question, "What if the Devil appeared to be the nicest guy in the world?" On the surface Johann seems like Bosch's normal nice, good guy, except he is motivated by a bottomless pit of evil and cruelty. It would be a pretty amazing subversion of JYB's normal character type, I think.
2) The voice matches well. Johann is a soft-spoken guy, and while JYB can make his voice strong (like he does with Kiba in Wolf's Rain), he is more natural with a softer voice. Just imagine his Lelouch voice with Johann. I'm getting goosebumps already.
3) It would be hilarious to see if any crazy JYB fangirls would try to justify Johann's actions because they love his voice so much. An endless source of entertainment.
Man, now I really want this to happen. It would be fun as hell to hear JYB play such a thoroughly despicable person, and it would also push his acting to some potentially awesome levels if he can really nail the character.
