what about forever out-of-print manga? 3x3 eyes, berserk, digi charat... if you find out of print manga on amazon or something, by then the money will not go to the company, just the person selling it.
3x3 eyes only had 5 volumes translated in america, and the art was flipped (then again, it was back when manga were first being liscened in the states, so i can understand) the rest when on for fifteen years in japan, recently ending on volume 40. this is just an example. i think some people do diserve to see what they missed if you cant buy a particular series anymore.
i would love to buy the manga i've read online to support it, but as i have a limited amount of money, i planned on getting them slowly over time. but that couldnt happen since most of what i wanted went out of print before i could even complete the series, and they all had 12 volumes or less (variety is good). so now through all that, the only thing i can ever hope to completing is +anima. maybe azumanga daioh (sadly just a scruntched down 4-koma version) and haruhi suzumiya (since it's the only other thing at my bookstore with less than ten volumes)
Huh... well I always thought of online manga as an online library 'cause you don't pay for it but you can't really keep and own it either. Any agreements or disagreements? Besides, most of the manga I read online hasn't even come out over here in America...

The internet is unstoppable force. But it can be harnessed for a persons own good. Youtube use to be a hot spot of pirated Anime dubs, but now all of those are down do to copyright issues. But thankfully, we can watch our favorite animes on the internet for the small price of watching a commercial.
So, why doesn't the Manga industry do that? I admit, I am guilty of reading manga that I've never purchased before on the internet, and cash isn't really something I have a lot of, but I want to support these guys! If the Manga persons would create a website or something for viewing of these manga with the small viewing price of a commercial or something, I bet that it would give the Mangaka a steady income. And plus, digital is the way to go now a days. I mean, look at companies like Amazon and Apple who have devices for book reading on a little device that's portable! And stores multiple books also! AND I JUST CAME UP WITH AN IDEA, BUT SINCE IT COULD ACTUALLY WORK I'M NOT TELLING YOU :D
All the manga I read hasn't come out yet in America...and is online...So I find no harm in reading something that I can't even buy, yet. Now, on the other hand, if they read the manga and never buy it, I find that rude. If you've read it online then you should buy the manga when it comes to America (that's what I do). I don't know how it is in Japan, though. It might be really bad like people reading manga they can already buy, but don't feel like spending any money. SPEND THE MONEY IF YOU LIKE IT! And if you don't that's any insult to the mangaka...unless you're meaning to insult them...O.o
If such uploading is for commercial reasons, I can see how angry the Shonen Jump editors are; unauthorized manga copies are just as illegal as bootleg Anime dvd copies (for ex: bootleg DVD copies of "Sailor Moon Sailor Stars"). As for me, I just stick to buying an official English-translated copy of a Manga issue at stores or read it at a nearby library when I want to read it.

I hope they do do something about RELEASED manga. Unreleased scantalations help their sales, lets face it (just look at the buzz over kuroshitsuji).
But when it comes to released manga, I want to support the artists I admire. Buying their art is the best way to do that. :D
