Because I can't let this die (or rather, because NBC decided to do a news article on it), here's the official claim on the first robot wedding by my art prof. I'm going to go away now.
This is beginning of the revolution for Robot's rights. Way to go Japan, your slowing ruining our grand children's future, one Marriage at a time.
I mean, just look at all the robot movies when they gain feelings! They always end so sad! (Or Happy in the Case of WALL-E v. Cliche)
My drawing professor from this past semester was married by a robot (second and third videos) a few years ago. I'm wondering if the iFairy was legally able to do it and therefore being the first to really conduct a wedding, since my prof's bot wasn't (their marriage was made official by a justice of the peace later).

@KCHuang:
If they are registered to do so by marriage laws they use in Japan, I suppose so. I wouldn't doubt it.

@Schultzie:
That would be great, but what is the Japanese equivalent of a passionate African-American sounding robot preacher from the 31st century?

Maybe this is who they got to officiate for the guy a couple months back that wanted to marry his body pillow.

Was it the preacher bot from Futurama? That is the only way I'll accept it.
