The first 3/4ths of the movie is basically stock footage. Then they get to the part in the series where the fight with Guame happens. That got changed up to be about three times as awesome as the original episodes were.
I still prefer the actual series because the pacing is better. Since they had to fit it into about an hour and a half, a lot got cut. Those new scenes, though. Wow.
But yeah, I'll probably be buying this one, since the movie is definitely still a great ride. I'll hold out until they dub it, though. And hopefully they'll have some decent extra features on the DVD release.

That's awesome that they're showing that at the convention! I wish I was going! I can't wait to actually watch the dubbed version, and see it out of DVD. That would be great. Though wasn't the first movie just a recap of the first nine episodes with some added scenes? O well...

At last, more "Gurren Lagann" anime gets subbed officially, Hope to see an official North American DVD release of this and its sequel soon.
Funny thing is I was just thinking about writing a post about this in one of my WORLDs, but looks like someone beat me to it. Oh well.
