Oh jeeze...
Is anyone else feeling a little afraid?
They epically failed at Dragonball and now they want to REMAKE it. I'm thinking all of Hollywood has offically run out of ideas.
What's with all these american-made live actions? I don't understand....can anyone pull of a well-made live action movie without making it corny? OMG....failures all of them. Except maybe Speed Racer, that was actually ok considering the cartoon that it came from....
Not sure what you mean by "big franchise movie studio," but Fox is the studio behind Star Wars, which is for all intents and purposes a pretty darn big franchise.
Personally, I don't really think the studio has much to do with the quality of a movie. It all depends on the director and actors. The last movie didn't have much going for it in those regards and wasn't even that faithful to the source material to begin with. If they got good actors and a director who has been a long-time fan of Dragonball and knows how to treat the source material with respect, I can see this happening. It's not an easy series to adapt into live action, but I still think it's possible.
to make things at least a little bit more better is to let another movie studio, I mean a big franchise movie studio, and let them work on it. Cause maybe fox can't do it, but I don't know I just hope for there sake that they learned from what they did wrong cause if they didn't they're just gonna lose money and make die hard dragonball fans pissed again XD;;
Sure Hollywood filmmakers can still come up with more storylines, 'cause if not, there would not be any Hollywood films made in this decade, and the whole business would by then be declared "dead" and "shut down". For example, I just saw "Year One" yesterday, and man it was sure a very creative historical fiction comedy. Sometimes, the ideas are inspired by the filmmakers' life experiences. As Walter Lantz (creator of "Woody Woodpecker") once said, "Ideas come from everywhere".
As for "Dragonball: Evolution", nothing was really screwed up as its director just wanted to create a storyline separate from that of the "Dragon Ball" Manga, with permission and blessing from the manga's author Akira Toriyama. It's just that this movie failed not only to get lots of positive reviews by film critics, but also to attract more viewers in North America (including long-time "Dragon Ball" fans) as it seems that not a lot of people are capable of accepting the differences between the Anime and the U.S. films based on them. However, the critisisms of people per film are usually just opinions. But still, it's sad to hear of North American citizens who gave up on Hollywood filmmakers.

First off, let me say I've never been real impressed by Japanese or America live actions of cartoons or animes. Period. Anyone that says that Japanese movies are of great quality...yah, no. Some are decent, like Death Note or Nana, but I've never seen any Japanese film that just knocked my socks off.
They should stop while there ahead, the only reason why Hollywood keeps using animes for movies is because they have lack originality and can't think up of any storylines anymore. Animes are animes for a reason, quit screwing with us.
I think it's time that hollywood stops making live-action movies of anime and just leave it to the people in japan since they do a better job of live-action movies than we americans do but then again thats just my opinion. (shrughs)
They should hire a hardcore DBZ fan to work alongside them for suggestions. A group of them would be even better.
Well, if they do go through with it, let's hope it's a huge improvement over the first cause after all, it can't get any worse than that.
That's... just stupid.
I mean, I wouldn't pay to see the first one that they did in the theatre, so why the hell would I pay for a remake? Give up already. Geez.
i think its good that they are resetting the dragonball live action franchise, this time you need a big name director who would know how to do it perfectly and major rewrites as well! but please keep james marsters as piccolo, and as for justin chatwin....well im not sure, keep him or find someone else
But nothing truly good has come from Fox anyway; these are the morons that are beating the dead horse on American Idol! And the first DB movie came out several spots below Disney's Hannah Montana movie on opening week; I would think even Fox would have some pride and take a lesson from that.
Personally, I find this to be amazing news. But, then again, it just gives them another chance to get my hopes up and then rip my beating heart out of my chest. *Prays for the Otaku God to step in and make this right*
Why of course! LOL. We bombed so lets do it all over again! We're to stupid to think of any new ideas! hmmm. Maybe they are working on the idea the "Practice makes perfect"?

...I think it was their plan all along to make a crappy movie and then see if restarting the trilogy would garner more interest in the whole thing.

Hm,because of all the bad things I've heard about the movie,I didn't wanted to see it.
But the fact that they have confessed they did make a huge mistake with the first movie and want to try all over again, makes me a bit happy.
I wish them good luck while remaking the first movie and hopefully, they'll be able to get a much better one than the first one.

Good luck Fox. Please learn from you're mistakes.
I heard it was so bad, I didn't see the movie. However my friend, who has never seen Dragonball before and is a movie geek, loved it. *shrugs*

In all aspects, if they mess up any more than they possibly could have their failure is complete.
