lol, next there going to make a Naruto live action.
If the movie is as good as the Death Note live-action, then it should be pretty awesome for avatar fans. Frankly,I'm not all that into Avatar, but Ill finish the series just to watch this movie...
^_^
what i'm worried about is the thing between Aang and Katara. how are they gonna pull that off? and i wonder if they're gonna try and fit two years worth of stuff in the movie :?
Never trust a trailer. A terrible trailer can be made from a superb movie. And vice versa. And considering that this is a teaser trailer and that there's probably quite a bit of production left to do, I wouldn't expect much from it. The trailer, that is, not the movie.
I think I'm going to wait until the movie is available for free from the local library, though. Not as a statement of the expected quality, but because I'm cheap.
mmmm...I dunno, trailer was a little...lack-luster for me, but it IS only the first trailer, other than that is seems to have potential so far, so I'll give it some time...
Alright, the trailer looked good. I can't imagine myself not seeing this (especially since it looks like Otaku used my fanart as the thumbnail for the story woohoo).
This looks miles better than the commercials for Dragonball. I had been waiting to see that movie since before it was rumored that Wolverine (Hugh Jackman?) was supposed to be Goku. The trailers looked so bad, I didn't even catch it in the theaters. Maybe on DVD though.
Maybe if Avatar goes well, Fox will say, "Hey, maybe we shouldn't cast Keanu Reeves as Spike Spiegel in Bebop." An unknown Spike has an 87% chance of being better than Keanu
M. Night Shymalan huh? What a strange match-up. He was one of the last people I would think of to do an Avatar live action movie. Not like there's anything wrong with him... but his style is so different from Avatar. And maybe he'll actually make it interesting, because I personally didn't like the show. Unlike Dragonball Z, I might actually watch this one xD
**EDIT: And surprisingly, the trailer looks awesome LOL. I'm going to see this in the theatres, most definitely :3

Was this what they had attached to Transformers? I could have sworn it was the exact same thing they showed on Entertainment Tonight.
Yes, initially seeing this it really did get my hopes up. It looks good. I mean... there are still some things -cough-castingwhitepeopleasinuitscough- that upsets me. But... I'm still going to see it, because I know that not only with Mr. Shyamalan be receiving death threats from us (the fans), but he'll also be getting them from his own kids. That motivates a man.
Also I'm gonna say it one more time. Being Indian does make you Asian. None of you would be complaining if he was what most people think as being Asian. Not only that but the whole Fire Nation cast is of Middle Eastern/Indian decent, so its not only Dev Patel. As for why casting someone of Indian decent makes sense for the Fire Nation, take a second look at their clothing, buildings, weapons and art. Agni, as in Agni Kai (challenge fire benders use), is taken from the Indian god Agni. Over all, it makes more sense then Jackson Rathbone as Sokka.
I'm so torn... there are things I like and things I'm very hesitant about. The trailer still looked very polished, though I'm still not 100% sure why we needed an Avatar movie so soon. Even Harry Potter had time to rest in it's juices before it got made into a movie. I suppose if you're going from the first season though it'll been about five years though. Oh god, that makes me feel old.

i agree with you actually. when i see a movie based off of a book or a cartoon i'm not expecting everything to be 100% faithful to the original. and honestly i wouldn't want it to because that would be boring as i'd already know the original story you know?
like with dragonball, the movie wasn't bad because of the changed story and character histories. it was bad because it was like at some point during production they just didn't care and i think it really showed in the finished product.
I've found that trailers, critics and fans are all illogically unreliable when it comes to the quality on works such as this, since none of the entities can ever seem to agree. All the trailer gives me is a potential for hope... 'cause... you know... *shrugs* :, It's a testy kind of thing.
I know what the movie would bring to the franchise: teh lulz. I will be in the theatre not only as an excited Avatar fan, but also as someone ready to drop everything and mock to my heart's content. Movie adaptations usually get treated as if they are supposed to be wholly faithful and true to the fans when in all actuality, they are seperate incarnations all together. Best example is the Harry Potter movies, as early incarnations cut out so much material, it's only half the story it once was.
...yeah...
Also, don't think I'm pickin' on ya; I'm not. Your comment was just last when I looked. 8D
trailers cannot be trusted. a trailer can make even the worst movie look exciting. although i am happy with the over quality it displays as in it doesn't look cheap like dragonball did.
although i still don't see what this as a live action movie could possibly bring to the franchise. will be watching this one
It does look very exciting! :D I hope they would've shown more characters though, but maybe the next one. Also hope they don't make Aang too serious.....
wow.... i mean, this is way better looking than the other recent live action movies that have been attempted.... i mean, at first i was skeptical, but now.... this actually looked doable and agreeable.... yeah im getting all for this....
Well, on the plus side, it looks like it might be better than the failure that was Dragonball Evolution. And while I still wish they had gotten an Asian to play Zuko, if Dev Patel can act I won't kick up too much of a fuss.
Wow, I gotta say I'm pleased. In the trailer, I think they could have showed more of the characters besides Aang, but over all it was pretty good. I love how everything seems so... realistic *Shot for stating the obvious* It doesnt seem like they used many computer effects, which I'm sure they did, but again, it doesn't look like it did. I think this is gonna be on my "To See" list next summer.

This could have potiential. At least Aang doesn't look like a white kid. Maybe it is the shaved head.

Not quite.
The plan is to make three movies, each based on a book of the series.

The movie is supposed to continue the story after the series so there's no worrying over reenacting anything from the cartoons.

The kid has really good moves (which is a given considering he's a hardcore martial artist already). That alone makes me pretty happy.
I dunno, as far as teaser trailers go for movies still a year away, this one is quite good. Doesn't break the potential, in any case.
