...I think my brain just exploded...that's worse than the Barbie game my parents bought me as a kid where she's a supermodel. I need some Fire Emblem to reconstruct my mind.

Wow, I totally agree. Sometimes I can't believe all the crazy games they put out for girls. Dating games especially are a gray area when it comes to what young girls will read into it.
It all depends on how you look at it really and your own personal values.
Most professional chefs that you see are men so maybe Cooking Mama was thought of to inspire girls to go into cooking as a profession rather than your stereotype of a woman in the kitchen.
Or it could be to promote the idea of cooking more rather than eating take out all the time. And then there is always the stereotype which people might instinctively point to.
As far as targeting goes I'd say it works since I have yet to see a guy plays these. Then again I haven't seen any girls play them either...
Suddenly I'm reminded of the "Cooking Mama" comic that Vgcats did, where the lady from the game try bring up "Business Mama" and other things and then she got smacked and went back to cooking with a black eye...hm...
I will admit I hate the sterotypes, but I mean, there are some kids that enjoy those kind of games. Who knows...
I'll admit, I found that article rather humorus. I'll also admit that this also brought up a good point with regards to the subliminal messaging. However, I stand firm to my belief that this will only turn into a serious problem if the gamer in question starts trying to incorporating the negative aspects of such in real life.
It's important that the video game creators think first of what members of each gender likes to see or play before making the products themselves. I wouldn't necessary say "lame idea". In fact, I see everything as a good idea, although people intend have different ways on how to go about developing the idea.

This kinda reminds me of Peta's version of "Cooking Mama" I played it, and it was crap.

We can only be glad that these games are in fact cheaper on the PC and have much graphics. Hence, less money goes into the coporate pockets.

@SomeGuy:
Ah, but the shooters are marketed to males no matter how you look at it, so I wouldn't worry.
I just can't help to think about Jojo's Bizarre Adventure when it comes to the "Fashion Show" one. XDD
Be true, be you and of course, be otaku.

Actually, I kinda regret my wording of that news summary now, as I suggest that violent shooters ARE bad for boys (and people in general).
That was dumb of me. D'oh.
