I know the game has been overpopularized but I really think this movie and series could have real potential. After all, no matter how much you dislike Halo, you have to admit that the game was amazing for the time it came out. There is so much detail involved in the design of the game backgrounds and all that jazz, it really was an amazing game.
Personally, I only see the "Very exciting news" as the poor taste in content, but at the same time, I do see and understand your point. As well as your overall statement. I completely agree with you wanting opinion to stay in the comment box.
I think I came off a little too strongly in my last comment, sorry about that, lol. I still see much of the rest of the argument as personal preference, but the thing that started it all, I definitely have to say I agree with you.
Weak argument + poor taste in nugget content = I'm more likely to get irritated than usual. I would be more lenient if the opinions consistently stayed in the comment box and not the news piece itself. Given the record though, you might see me erupt a little more often than is comfortable. >>'
Nehz, this really is all personal opinion. Sure, I completely disagree with you on your statement about Sonic for instance. So what? Hisaishi just thinks that some things are sellouts, and you disagree. There is no way to say if something is a "sellout" as that really is just a personal point of view as to what you see as a "sellout".
This whole discussion going on is completely ridiculous in my mind, and people are getting way too worked up about it.
Yes, the Halo franchise could naturally work as an anime. The thing I'm a little worried about is how they're going to actually get the full character of Master Chief and the Arbiter in such a style. 8| They're a bit more 3 Demensional then anything else.
Otherwise, I hope they don't mess it all up... they've already done that to so many other good series and I don't want to see Halo take the same path.
Looking at the sense of drama and action in the "Halo" franchise, I see it desereves the opportunity to have its characters appear in such a type of film. In fact, anything can naturally fit in Anime.

...Halo as an animated movie...? hm..no comment.. except that is completely absurd O.o and maybe a bit stupid. They already stopped the real-life halo movie, so why bother making an animated one?? Jeez.. -.- but if it IS good, then i guess all of us who think it'll be dumb should get slapped with a rubber chicken.. ;o
Yugioh and Pokemon were appealing to a new population of young children with every incarnation, making the new releases a viable marketing strategy. Besides, Yugioh wasn't about a card game when it started, but a series of "dark games". Executive meddling from the manga writer's editor made him go card game/merchandise driven. Pokemon is still fun, even after so long, because they keep adding things to make it new.
Dance Dance Revolution is renewable because you can add more songs to make the game seem fresh again... like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, except with more physical movement... unless you are very against physical movement or are one of those freaky people who can do Challenge backwards.
Crash Bandicoot and Sonic the Hedgehog are simply adaptable animals that have a storyline flexible enough to go on multiple adventures and are also refreshing their demographic base with every new release, as with Yugioh and Pokemon.
Some people can also argue that Lupin is being overstretched simply because that's not their cup of tea. I enjoy Lupin, personally, so hating on it is not my hat to wear. A few girls I've met, on the other hand...
What you seem to be forgetting is that not everyone likes how Halo has been marketed towards people who are clearly not within the traditional gamer bounds. While trying to target parents and little sisters is almost on the funny side with the Wii (as they can then readily admit that "Hey! Video games are fun after all!" and stop nagging to get off the system), you tend to get a completely different set of gaming newcomers attached to the Halo series: the stereotypical jerk-off jock/frat boy type. This being is the natural predator of the gamer ever since the 80's and I believe that there are very few gamers around who would be comfortable bonding with the guy who shoved him in a locker for four years over a first-person shooter that is a decent game, but treated like the best thing since popped collars and Friday night football came together.
Halo helps to sell out the gamer lifestyle to those who are perfectly fine without it, pure and simple. Let them troll their own websites and message boards with their n00b/haxx comments and keep the stereotypes in their natural places in life. Don't be hating simply because someone isn't as thrilled as you are.
Shall we list other cases? Yes!
Yu-Gi-Oh!
Pokemon
NOT Lupin the III
Dance Dance Revolution
Crash Bandicoot(DIE YOU STUPID ANIMAL!!!)
Sonic the Hedgehog
Personally, I think that making it into an anime will only help. I don't know if you're aware, but there are Halo novels as well, and their stories are a lot, LOT better than the ones in the games. After all, how detailed of a story can you get in a FPS? You kind of have to leave it mostly "you're the good guy and you shoot the evil aliens" or a lot of people will get bored. This way, they can bring the deeper story shown in the novels to life.
Awww! crap! I was hoping if they ever did it, they'd give it a big budget and do it live action! I think it could have been great if done right...or horribly bad if done wrong, but everything has risks, lol
I can't say anything about Evangelion, since I know next to nothing about it, but FMA hasn't been milked. Not as much as Halo, at least. With FMA, we got an anime that ended up going away the original storyline and a movie, and eventually a new anime that sticks to the manga, fixing what the original anime messed up.
Halo had a good trilogy of games. But then they went and started making more when there's really no need, and now this. There are times when good things just need to be left alone, and Halo is one of those cases.

If it's animated like Appleseed, I think it could really work.
