Looks like America is losing more Anime dubbing studios, but I pray that someone will step up to take over licenses to the Anime ADV licensed for DVD releases (like "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman" (1972), "Saint Seiya" (1986), and "Super Dimension Fortress Macross" (1982)), otherwise we fans won't be able to find anymore DVD copies of them in the store shelves, and I am still struggling to find ADV's 1st dvd volume of "Super Dimension Fortress Macross" (1982). Plus, this means that Harmony Gold U.S.A. will need to commision another company to replace ADV for the continuing of selling DVD copies of the "Robotech" T.V. episodes.
I have to say that today's a sad day for not only Anime fans in North America, but also adults in North America looking for lots of animated titles to choose from that they can enjoy, because not only are the U.S. and Canada still making little amount of animated shows and films partly/entirely meant for adults to enjoy annually, but they're also losing Anime licensing companies as well. Heck, this can qualify also as sad day for law enforcers as it's a possiblilty that America will suffer from an increase in its amount of fansubbers, counting those who will probably fansub ADV-licensed Anime they will have trouble finding in stores in the future.

Well as long as Funimation doesn't get the license to the ADV animes I'll be fine. Funimation just kills to many good animes. R.I.P. ADV
ye shall be missed dearly
This is some really rough news. What really hurts is I was just talking about them with my friend last week. We were watching my DBZ boxsets and we got on the topic of how big Funimation has become over the years - picking up some the biggest series while it had been ages since either of us had seen anything from ADV. I guess this would help to explain it and its a real shame. *tips hat* Rest In Peace ADV, the anime world will truly miss you.
NOOOOOO!
What is happening to the American Anime and Manga companies? Are we all getting screwed over because of our economy? I am glad that there are some companies that are willing to salvage the fallen companies but this is too much.
1st- Nwetype USA magazine stops printing
2nd- Geneon USA falls under
3rd- Shojo Beat stops production of their magazine abruptly.
Now... ADV Films is falling apart
What is next folks? Anyone care to place their bets now? I feel like we are losing what we otakus have helped to build which is a culture that is all our own.

Just a note, the companies that it's transferring assets to are located at the same address, with the same people in the ownership, keeping most of the staff. Not sure why they made this move, but probably to keep taxes lower and reduce overhead.
Thanks,

I swear, I never saw that coming.
That is really surprising. I thought ADV was profitable D:
The US economy must really be awful right now.
Here in Canada, the numbers technically say that we are out of the recession, although it doesn't seem to be that way to the people.
Goodness. First Shoujo Beat and now this huh? It's too bad. Hopefully they can both be revived once the economy is better.

I guess it's very appropriate that it's raining here, because this is sad news. ._.
Man, I knew they had already transferred a lot of their titles to Funimation already, but it's still rotten to hear that they're going under completely now. I remember when Geneon and ADV were the biggest companies, and now they've both crashed and burned. I don't think they were able to adapt the way Funi has been doing lately.
I had a feeling this would happen what with Funimation getting the rights to so many of their shows, but it is still very sad news. I hope the other companies stand strong during this recession. I can't imagine no more anime releases in the US.

Between the two, I'd go for Del Ray. Seems to fit better, though Del Ray titles are much more expensive than Tokyo Pop or Viz -_-"
I actually hope Viz gets some of the titles, only because it's cheaper for the consumer to buy.

Yeah, I'd rather Del Ray got it. I can't see Viz releasing it(and if they did they'd probably ruin it ¬_¬).
