This kind of makes me sadface.
Not necessarily because of who doing it, but why they're doing it at all. It's a perfectly awesome movie that really doesn't need a remake, even in a different style.
But it does make one wonder...
Yeah, I also (vaguely, since I didn't have cable) recall a time when Disney channel was much more respected and when its shows were more along the lines of what we recognize as the Disney style. The shows of now are way different. I grimace at Disney channel nowadays.
The original Yellow Submarine is pretty trippy in its own right. I'm curious to see what Disney will do with it. Whatever happens, I don't think the remake will ruin much; after all, things like Star Trek and Final Fantasy have their own let's-not-mention-it bad eggs. If anything, you can close your eyes and just listen to the music.
If it's good, then yay for the Beatles for being able to withstand a Disney makeover!
If you base the live-action shows on the currently aired stuff, yeah, it sucks, but if they would have given the current generation the opportunity to watch some of the older live-action things they've done it would be different. They were fairly decent at live-action, before 2003 or so, and that included the made-for-television movies they cranked out once a month. That's more the network's fault for abandoning what made them what they were for what they are now. Disney Channel and the programs shown were much more socially respected when I was younger. Rewind ten years and it was a completely different feel.
Wow... South Park is right, Disney is taking over the world!
Well, the Disney movies aren't bad (they were the ones who made Pirates of the Caribbean after all), so I guess this movie won't be bad either. I won't bother watching it 'cuz I'm not much of a Beatles fan either.
Their live aciton shows suck. Some of their cartoons are good.
It's just their live action shows, and commonly, live action movies.
It's the Beatles, Disney can't ruin them at all. Whether or not the remake is going to suck, one thing is for certain, the music is going to be awesome.
But I don't see why they need to remake it. The original was already good super duper awesome. I won't mind seeing it. I love the Beatles.
Thinking on the content, maybe there are some things (like the Beatles' yellow sub) that mix well with Disney fantasy adventure after all, and Disney does work well on musical. We just have to wait and see when the whole remake comes before we make our judgement. Still, there are some things that don't mix well with Disney, like the Marvel Super-Heores saga due to it's dramtic edgy approach in telling a good story.
I don't mind the live-action Disney adventures (which usually range from G-rated to PG-13-rated), it's just the Disney-runned channels and Disney tradition of animated storytelling I don't care much for.
There's also the fact that without the deal, Marvel may have tanked and caused the complete removal of Spider-Man, Deadpool and Iron Man from existence in general.
But no, it's Disney. Everything they do is inherently evil, so how dare they allow X-Men fans to continue enjoying their comics.
Something's rotten in Denmark...or California...either works.
Actually this makes a little more sense. Not many movies about the the Beatles are shown these days so I'll take anything. That said, Disney should do a good job if and only if they stick to most of the script and try not to make it cute. Then they'll ace it.
Naruto and Marvel, however, are completely unwarented and make little to no sense. Naruto makes little sense because they're placing it with the correct age range. Marvel...no sense whatsoever. I guess they spent their hard earn Hannah Montana overflow and bought something for the hell of it.

I hate Disney now, (not you Walt!). How the crud do they expect to pull this off? Realistic Yellow Submatrine is disturbing enough, blue meanies, sea of monsters, it's going to give people nightmares. Not to to mention trippy. Going to be received much differently in this animation than before. Plus, do they have permission to use their images? Seeing Lennon in a new film is going to be off. And the Harrisons gave permission? Why can't they stop killing Awesome?

I just died on the inside. Why can't Disney stick to our beloved princesses?

Well, there are some pretty acid-like sequences in some Disney movies if you think about it, so I doubt it'll be too noticeable.

Um, considering the slightly-hidden drug references in 'Yellow Submarine', I question whether this is permissible. But Disney just doesn't care.

Something is rotten in the state of California...
Has the recession secretly hit Disney as well? I bet they're buying up what they can in hopes that it pays out more than it costs.

Great, Disney has to ruin the beatles for people as well? When is it going to stop? Although it would be interesting to see.
