Different Perceptions
Exam season really sucks out your SOUL. (D:>)
A short story I wrote.
THE DIFFERENT PERCEPTIONS.
The world is incoherent of my theory. Did they not know, for mankind is like a sheep? To be led and to be slaughtered.
A FRIEND
That was the very words Lans Slone told me. I remembered the daunting look his eyes gave me, dark and mildly deranged.
Deranged might be the best word to describe this man. His mild demeanor was encapsulated with the very grace of a sophisticated man. His speech was drawn out but enunciated precisely and with intelligence. His looks, as far as a 30-year-old-man go, was quite handsome.
He was a fine man to be with, but as time and insanity ate at his soul, his charm slowly degenerates to a pitiful mush of meaningless blabber and paranoia.
As a friend, he shall be missed dearly.
A POLICE OFFICER
His name is Lans Slone.
A crazy son of a gun with the deadliest look in his eyes that can kill you.
He laughed while holding the entrails of the woman in his hands, kept screaming “ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?” into the air. One of the hardest cases to handle. But I bet he’ll be under Insanity Charges. Crazy dudes can’t be mixed with bad dudes. The most horrible addition ever.
Anyway, according to his friend he used to be a stable guy. A good guy in fact and the worst offense he could commit is sometimes his choice of books. He’s easily intrigued by human natures and his taste in literary dwells in the darker side of mankind.
If I were his friend, I would have told him to lay off the books.
THE PSYCHIATRIST
Lans Slone death greatly shook me. He was one of the most enjoyable men to be with, despite his occasional respites filled with mad blabber of mankind and human nature. To be frank, he told me, the only reason he agreed to see a professional is to discuss the matter of human nature and interest.
I delved into the matter along with the man.
I would say the path I chose almost slowly turned me into a man of his state. Almost, for I justify this statement with the realization of the gravity of this subject and I have, on many occasions, refrained myself from getting too deep into it. I also have numerous times tried to tell Lans to stop but he refused. He was addicted. I could not stop him.
Once, when he was calm, he told me. This quest was an addiction to him. It was like a recession that every human enjoys deep inside them no matter how small a fragment it is. It is, he said, a sweet guilty feeling. The very emotion every human possess that is self-pity and attention-seeking.
It was that moment I saw the malevolence of his words beyond his articulate smile. I terminated my service and our doctor-patient relationship. I knew it was cowardly, but I was, I admit, feared the man.
My heart reaches out to the woman’s family.
A POLICE OFFICER
The psychiatrist confirmed he was disturbed in the head. So the guy would be going to a mental institution for psychopaths or something like that.
Sick, sick, sick…
