The only rule is: there are no rules!
Most Important: Don't stress out. Remember, this about taking little steps. When doing your daily project, focus on the current day and don't think about tomorrow, next week, or next month. Big projects can be incredibly daunting, but you'll be amazed at what you can do when you break them down into a series of tiny, manageable pieces.
The key to a successful daily project is deciding on a subject or medium that you will enjoy exploring for a year.
Keep in mind that a simpler idea will go a lot farther than a complicated on. If you choose a consistent subject matter (skulls, stars, smiley faces, chihuahuas, etc.), pick something you already like. You probably have plenty examples of it in your environment to inspire you, and you'll be less likely to get tired of it before a year is over.
and lastly, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT DOCUMENT!!!!! take pictures/video of not only the finished product. maybe take some of you in the process of making the project. and if it is something that will change over time (snow melting, food rotting), document that as well.

Prompt: what's your favorite animal? use it as your inspiration today.
my favorite animal is a cat, and that's what i chose for my subject. so i was a little stumped as what to do. i took my little sketchbook, a multi-colored pen, and my black calligraphy marker with me to work. after sketching for awhile, i decided to draw a cat, and make its strips and collar out of little stick figure cats. cats inside of a cat.
Day 2 prompt: Make something out of paper, but don't use scissors or glue or draw on it. What now? (And no, you don't have to know origami to do this.)
PROMPT: the first step is the hardest, so start small and make something that fits in the palm of your hand using only the materials in your immediate environment.
at first, i had planed on making a cat out of little pieces of torn up and balled paper. but it kept rolling in Collin's hand, so that was a bust. so i dug around in my backpack to see what i had with me (i was in my morning class at the time) and found my colorful sharpies and calligraphy markers. Jean and Cindy are the only others in the class I am comfortable with talking to, but Cindy hates cats. so i asked Jean if i could draw a cat in the palm of her hand, and she agreed.

if you haven't read the intro for my world, i highly suggest you do. i put info from the beginning of the book in there. it's tips from the author for this challenge and on choosing your subject.
also, please check the previous post to make sure everyone who want to participate is listed. if you are not listed, let me know. i tried to keep track of everyone. if you plan on making your own world, i would like to put a link to everyone's in my intro under a list of participants so that we and visitors can easily get to each other's worlds to see what everyone is doing. so if you could let me know wen you've made your world so i can add you, it would be greatly appreciated.

february 29th, in the evening i will post the prompt for Day 1 with spoiler alert as a head's up. if you want to look, you can. if not, just ignore it and wait until Day 1. i will post the day's prompt early in the morning, and then update it later with documentation of my creation. then later in the evening i will post the next day's prompt with spoiler alert. this way, if something were to happen and i don't post the day's prompt in the morning it will still be there for you guys. but i will try my hardest to keep up with posting the prompt.

i'm thinking of starting a project, and i was wondering if anyone was interested in joining me. i recently found a book that challenges you to make something every day of the year. so after the year has ended, you have made 365 small art pieces. not the key word here, small! the book also has a journal in it, with a prompt for every single day. some example that are included are- make something out of a piece of toast/bread; write a 10 word love story BONUS: illustrate it; make something with just fingerprints; work only with toilet/paper towel cardboard rolls; take a 5 minute walk and wherever you end up use what you find there for your materials today; ect.
really easy, little project. the author chose to do a skull a day for his first year long challenge. i have decided to do a cat a day, using the prompts in the journal part of the book. i plan on making a world devoted just to this project, and early every morning i will post the day's prompt, and later add my documentation of my cat.
i defiantly plan on starting this year-long project March 1st. but i am hoping that someone else will be inspired to take on this challenge with me, perhaps create their own world dedicated to this, or they could be a guest poster on mine. i would love this to be a community effort. it would defiantly be more fun. just comment or p.m. me.
