"Make something every day and change your life!" -Noah Scalin

The only rule is: there are no rules!

Most Important: Don't stress out. Remember, this about taking little steps. When doing your daily project, focus on the current day and don't think about tomorrow, next week, or next month. Big projects can be incredibly daunting, but you'll be amazed at what you can do when you break them down into a series of tiny, manageable pieces.

The key to a successful daily project is deciding on a subject or medium that you will enjoy exploring for a year.

Keep in mind that a simpler idea will go a lot farther than a complicated on. If you choose a consistent subject matter (skulls, stars, smiley faces, chihuahuas, etc.), pick something you already like. You probably have plenty examples of it in your environment to inspire you, and you'll be less likely to get tired of it before a year is over.

and lastly, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT DOCUMENT!!!!! take pictures/video of not only the finished product. maybe take some of you in the process of making the project. and if it is something that will change over time (snow melting, food rotting), document that as well.

~-~-I will post the day's prompt early in the morning. when i finish my project, i will upload the documentation. in the evening i will post tomorrow's prompt to give you a head's up with the spoiler alert. ~-~-

all prompts and the above introduction rules are from the book A Daily Creativity Journal 365 Make Something Every Day And Change Your Life! by Noah Scalin

DAY 44

PROMPT: make something that lights up. work with an existing lampshade or put a small electric light or candle inside something you make.

when mindy sleeps with me in my room at night, i have to shut the door to keep the boys out so they don't wake us up. so then my room is pitch black dark, so i have a little nightlight. so for this prompt i drew a kitty face on my nightlight. it was on and my room dark when i took the picture, but the darn flash ruined that.

DAY 43

PROMPT: learn something new. ask a friend to help you do something using a technique or skill they're good at.

if only this prompt was on a day when i was at work, i have 2 friends there. but at school i only have 1, and she hates cats. but i did spend many hours today finishing my painting. i did learn how to paint from my professor. even though she isn't my friend. oh well. but this painting is supposed to be a non-traditional self portrait. so i painted a sphynx cat with oil paint.

DAY 44 PROMPT: make something that lights up. work with an existing lampshade or put a small electric light or candle inside something you make.

DAY 42

PROMPT: turn today's junk mail into something much more appealing.

i cut up the junk mail i got today to make a kitty face collage.

DAY 43 PROMPT: learn something new. ask a friend to help you do something using a technique or skill they're good at.

DAY 41

PROMPT: think big. create a large version of something that would normally be much smaller.

i found this image on google, printed it out, then made it super big by using the projector in the paint studio. the 2 inch paintbrush there is for a size reference.

DAY 40

PROMPT: what can you do with yarn? you don't have to know how to knit or crochet; you can try yarn painting or just experiment.

i do know how to crochet. and the plan was to make a blanket for my cat. i was going to put in Mindy's kennel to keep her warm when i don't let her slept with me in my bed. but i ran out of time, and my fingers started to cramp. so i had to stop. but i did manage to get quite far. i do plan on taking this with me to school tomorrow to finish. this will be finished and put in Mindy's kennel very soon.

DAY 41 PROMPT: think big. create a large version of something that would normally be much smaller.
