If I had to give up my favorite pet, I would definitely give it to Audrey. Audrey has a very deep understanding of life and death, and is very kind to all the squirrel-people she created. She always did the thing she believed to be right, even when it turned out to be wrong. Also, she is able to perform the ritual that lets anything live forever, so that's a plus.

If I had to give up my favorite pet, my chihuahua Jynx, I would give it to Jonathon. Because he's always nice and thoughtful, unlike most of the other main characters in the book. He always thinks about what's best for others even when it means pain for him. That's the best kind of person to take care of a pet. In my opinion, anyway.
