Well, I am honored to have gotten to see two Miyazaki shorts. I'm just frustrated that it's so hard to see the other six of them and that it's hard to recommend something that's so hard to find now.
I've become fascinated by some of the modern Japanese artists (non-manga). If any of you know any to recommend let me know. A lot of them are definitely mature audiences only...
Here's a reminder to try and clean/decorate your room. It makes a big difference.
I am totally exhausted. Being at PAX was like being in a bubble, I left with early news about the Japan situation and when I returned I found out it was far worse than I imagined.
I really hope the fundraiser works out. If not at least theOtaku.com was able to make a small donation on behalf of all staff.
I'll have a write-up of my PAX experience soon, including impressions of the Nintendo 3DS.
Going to PAX East this weekend. Can't wait to try the new 3DS and see the cool indie games around.
Here's a quick one-paragraph review I wrote for the iPhone game TINYWINGS:
"Weehoo!" yells the little round bird who soars through the sky--briefly--before falling down a slope, before gliding up a ramp and soaring through the sky again. TinyWings marries pure joy with deceptively simple tap-and-release game play. It joins Tetris as one of those rare games with a visual dynamic that clings to your brain long after you stop playing.
One of the reasons we suck is because we don't let you submit PNG images to the site (except for world posts and avatars). That's going to change, BUT what's funny is that people are STILL submitting PNG images to the site, they're just renaming them from .png to .jpg so that our system accepts them.
That's why sometimes on the main page you see a black square instead of the actual work.
Otakus find a way.
