Two Contests + Future Site?

Everyone should enter our Dragonica wallpapers contest AND our Quiz Slam. Just imagine playing with a new set of COPIC markers while you're posting on theOtaku with a green "Guru's Chosen" custom title. Imagine!!

I really want a new quiz to go up every day. Don't make me have to make one all by myself. You don't want to see 30 mudkip quizzes in a row, do you??

I'm going to be sending a newsletter about all this soon. It's been too long.

I also have a new section idea. Talked it over with Beth and she liked it. Keep you posted...

I Finally Found It!!!

I was once quoted from my first popular website in a magazine ad campaign. I was really poor back then and couldn't afford to buy a copy of the magazine it appeared in. For years I tried to find back issues for my scrap book, but to no avail.

Today, thanks to Google Books and the fact that the ad ran in a Boy Scout magazine, of all places, I found the ad!! I believe I was 16 at the time.

I also think it's funny how they didn't put the apostrophe on "cheaters" - was it my grammar or their typo? I'll never know.

Adam Vs. Educational Funding Company (EVIL)

This is how it happened...

Step 1. Sign up for Martial Arts School. Sign 1-year contract with the Educational Funding Company. Contract has an auto-renew clause which is already shady.

Step 2. Before the year is up, tell the school (Renzo Gracie BJJ in NYC) in person and then again over the phone that you don't wish for your account to be renewed. Hear both times that the request has been accepted.

Step 3. Call the Educational Funding Company, which is their billing provider, and, after many calls that go straight to voicemail, finally get to a live person, tell them not to renew your account. Hear that everything is set and that I won't be billed again.

Step 4. Just for good measure because it takes no time, send an email to the school again about the cancellation.

Step 5. Notice one month after your contract wasn't supposed to auto-renew that you've received a charge. WTF?

Step 6. Call your credit card company and tell them to stop all payments. They assure you you'll never be charged again.

Step 7. After SIX MONTHS, notice on your billing statement that you're STILL being charged every month.

...

WHY DO COMPANIES LIKE THIS STILL EXIST?!??!?!?! WTF?!?!??!?!?!?!
