James wrote a great post about turning 30. We happen to share the same birthday and birthyear! (April 30, 1983.)
Milestones are important not because of the # attached to them but because they give you a reason to stop and question where you are (and have been) in life. Maybe I'll have a post on the same subject?
I built a PC last week and am playing Final Fantasy VII for the *first time* on it (legally!). I watched my brother play the game on-and-off when it first came out but this is the first time I'm playing it from start to finish.
So far it's GREAT. Some aspects didn't age well but it has FAR more charm and soul than the majority of new games. I can "see" the creator's soul floating in the background. Compare to FFXIII, which is corporate and soulless, kind of like a Japanese Call of Duty game...
This is a great web reality show with webcomic artists as the cast, highly applicable to all you artists here :).
Also saw The House on Poppy Hill tonight. Much better than Goro Miyazaki's first movie. I'm still digesting it but I'll have a review up sometime soon.
I saw the US premiere of Wolf Children on Saturday. It's the third film by the creator of Summer Wars and Girl Who Leapt Through Time. I'll have a review shortly. Spoiler: It's a charming and worthy third film!
I'm seeing the premiere of Ghibli's House on Poppy Hill this coming weekend.
Living in New York City has its perks
Wreck It Ralph is now available to rent/buy. If you haven't seen it yet, watch it ASAP, one of the best movies of the year.
If Wreck It Ralph was a math formula, it would be:
WiR = (Brave - Oscar)^Infinity & Beyond
Plus, Kyle Hebert, friend of theO and voice actor extraordinaire makes a small cameo in the beginning as Ryu.
I wrote up the weekly Spotlight post, with some great entries, but forgot to click the Publish button. Now it's lost. Ugh, ugh, ugh, ugh, ugh. Should I scramble and re-do it or do a special double-header next week?
