-- The winner of our NYAF mascot contest will be announced soon. They emailed me the full breakdown of votes from the convention and it was a close one. I was surprised that over 600 people there voted.
-- SomeGuy and I have a big night tomorrow.
Tonight I chatted with SabrinaM and worked on my third game for 4-5 hours. It is epic and light years ahead of my last one. I'd even hesitate to call it a game, it's more an interactive art project. I only wish that I had a solid sprite designer, but I've been doing OK on my own with it. The game takes a full 5 minutes to beat, which doesn't sound like a lot but it feels much longer...
-- Two days, two new features: Colored comments and more submission limits.
-- Two great Fan Words today: here and here
-- Cassie's new post has a really disturbing image inside it
-- I'm going to announce our new premium offerings soon...honestly though the most important part of it is having a cupcake next to your name, everything else is just a bonus, you know?
In top-rope rockclimbing there are two ways to get from the bottom of the wall to the top: You can either just go up with any rock or you can take a color-coded route.
Of the color-coded routes, each one has a different rating for difficulty level. The scale looks like 5.6, 5.7, 5.8, 5.9, 5.10, 5.10a, 5.10b, etc.
Anyway, for the longest time I wasn't able to get myself up any of the routes, my technique was just so bad I'd get stuck and would have to be lowered down. My only chance to get to the top was to just step on random rocks, regardless of route.
Today, everything suddenly clicked. I defeated one 5.6 red route, then a white 5.6 route, then I conquered a 5.7 green, then I conquered another 5.7 pink.
How to celebrate this great victory? Why, to release colors on comments, of course.
-- I made a cool "breakthrough" on my new game. My goal is to make it art house in feel.
-- I went to a huge festival today to meet SomeGuy and I had no idea where he was in the festival grounds because my cell phone died. There was a 1 in 10,000 chance of finding him but oddly he found me within 5 minutes.
-- A panhandler asked me for $2 and she kept following me and badgering me for a block until I finally just gave up. Then, after I gave her $2, she started following me again to ask for more money(!) I'm upset at myself for giving her anything, it goes against my NYC instincts. I think that's why panhandlers in NYC aren't nearly as aggressive as here, because in New York a lot of people are high-strung and will just snap whereas Canadians are much friendlier.
-- This is a screen shot of how theOtaku.com is supposed to look. Does anyone see any major differences with how it looks like on their computer?
