6 Month Notes

The NYAF is only a little over a week away. I'm happy because I get to see two of my favorite people in the world: Ramen and Iron Chef Morimoto.

Can you believe that "Version Vibrant" is over six months old? They grow up so quickly...

You'll see a bunch of new stuff coming soon over the next few weeks/months including maybe even 1-2 new "sites." I'll also launch an awesomely cool new premium feature just to say thanks to those who signed up.

Will Wright, creator of SimCity, The Sims, SPORE, said that research before a game is by far his favorite part of creating one. I agree, I'm doing a ton of research for my game and absolutely love it. I'm just a very intellectually curious person, I love to learn about all sorts of things, especially if those things can be applied to creating something grand.

I don't have too much money left, launching VV and managing it post-launch has been tremendously expensive and has drained much of my bank account, but I think I have enough to get my game out there. Hopefully it'll be a monstrous hit and will fund new projects and developments for months to come. If not, I'll have some big decisions to make.

Games are a little harder than websites. The reason is because the purpose of websites is clear: to provide content, community, etc. whereas the purpose of games is harder to define: to be fun. It's really easy to make a game with great graphics, controls, sound, everything and then the person picks it up to play and doesn't have fun with it.

On the plus side, when a game is done, it's done forever whereas a website needs constant attention. This will be refreshing.

In case you were wondering, my game is heavily inspired by Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and Professor Layton and the Curious Village. HOWEVER, it's aimed more toward older players than younger (college aged and above I'd say).
