Check out the first few minutes of this movie, don't worry, it doesn't spoil the ending- it's just the beginning:
Pixar makes fantastic movies, and Up is no exception - it's fantastically whimsical, with a wonderful story, and great animation. However, all of this praise leaves me one with criticism:
This movie made almost everyone who saw it, bawl like no tomorrow.
What I really wanted to saw for that last line: "YOU EVIL BASTARDS. YOU MOTHER FU-" (But I digress.)
Bambi's mother's death made me shed tears, Mufasa's death certainly made me cry as well- but this? It was the equivalent of Disney multiplying every character death they've animated & with Artex's death from Neverending Story. That = me angstyly sobbing while crying out, "WHY ATREYU, WHY". Up wasn't like Pixar's other movies where most of the movie goes by, and then tradgey strikes - it starts off right away. In the first 10 minutes.
Infertility - in a movie about ballons? In the commercials for this thing I saw bright colors, an chubby kid, a floating house- but infertility? Also, his wife's dreams were never realized. Right when he decided to make things right and buy tickets so they could finally travel and fulfill their wondrous hopes & dreams - SHE DIES.
"Fuck you movie, fuck you!"
Have you noticed, that for some strange reason, the saddest movies created are created for children?
No wonder I have issues.
