The Book

"We're almost there," Hita called over her shoulder at Amber and me. Suddenly I felt someone's prensece. "Amber, look out," Hita yelled whipping around. A tall reddish brown haired man attacked her with a katana.

Hita ran at him but before I could follow. A boy with grayish blue hair lept at me; I blocked his kick with my wrists and twisted onto my hands flipping my leg toward his jaw. He jumped back narrowly missing the attack.

"Hey, Jay, back off that girl." the red-haired guy called. "What, why?" Jay as he was called; sounded outraged. Hita turned over her shoulder at spotted the two of us. Suddenly her eyes widened slightly as if she was remembering something. She knelt down on the ground and held out her katana. I knew it was his blade but I wouldn't have given it up so easily. To my surprise, Kodi rejected her offer awknoledging that it was hers now.

Hita stood back up on her feet. "Kodi, I need to get the book we guard, there's so few of us left, we can't protect it well. My friends and I can protect it better," Hita said nervously. Kodi nodded and agreed to our help. Hita thanked them; gratitude floated through her voice.

I looked over at the one named Jay; it seemed he wasn't my opponent. Though I was still a little irked about being attacked out of nowhere. But I guess we seemed to be intruders. Tch, I was ready to get this book; the impaitence burned up my insides as we followed them toward whereever we were going.
