A) BT Is a Mind Game.
Soon as you get there, you're issued your shirt, shorts, socks, and (if in cold weather) sweats (dubbed Smurfs), you are fitted for tennis shoes (New Balance) and boots (leather; Navy is the only Armed Service what uses leather boots), and then you are given a box into which you are to put everything you brought with you so you can send it back home at your own expense.
Then you will stay awake for anywhere from thirty-six to forty-eight hours straight. Period.
You will be shaven bald. Hair grows back; get over it.
You do your shit when they tell you to do your shit. The Recruit Division Commanders (RDCs) will be looking for any opportunity to be pissed off at you, and they will be looking for any opportunity to piss you off. Don't let them piss you off openly; that's called self control. Someone in your division is going to piss them off at some point, and then you'll be doing another lovely session of Intensive Training (IT), which can include any variant of any basic calisthenic.
Backtalk is a really bad idea. Keep your damn mouth shut.
You have one drawer to keep your stuff in, and it has enough room to hold all your stuff unless you don't fold it like they tell you. Always keep it locked, because the RDCs will come into your barracks, check for open drawers, and take the open ones they find into the middle of the room, dump it, and kick the contents.
You will be required to urinate on command, usually for spot drug tests. If you cannot urinate on command, you will be forced to take the Walk Of Shame: you pace up and down the barracks until you can do so. This should not be a problem, considering they also tell you to drink anywhere from eight to twelve full canteens of water per day. However, you will also probably be ITing so much that your division will create lagoons of sweat on the floors.
Also people will watch you pee.
You remember the chain of command at all times. You do not go to any of your higher superiors without going to your immediate superior first. You break chain of command, RDCs get angry at the division, the division gets angry at you.
Play the game, shoot for perfection, and you'll be fine.
