Cherry Blossoms

fter lunch, Hisoka took a long walk in the garden outside headquarters. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom like always. The tiny, delicate pink petals drifted slowly towards the ground, the trees' scent filled the crisp spring air and hung on Hisoka's nose and if it were clinging to life itself. A petal landed on Hisoka's shoulder and her carefully picked it off and looked at it in the palm of his hand, it felt soft and smooth.

"Just like your lips, Tsuzuki-san." Murmured Hisoka to himself.

Hisoka walked over to the trees and plucked off a blossom. He headed back inside towards the infimary and down the hall to Tsuzaki's room. He entered, and to his surprise he saw Tsuzaki standing by the window watching the cherry blossoms float by.

"Boku wa sakura o konomasu."* Muttered Tsuzaki to himself.

"Tsuzaki-san?"

Tsuzaki turned towards Hisoka. He looked slightly confused.

"What are you doing here?"

"I…I came to see you like always." Stuttered Hisoka.

"Like…always?" echoed Tsuzuki?

"Hai. Watashi wa nikka ni kimasu."*

"I see…although I don't understand why you even bother…" Tsuzaki turned away from his partner.

"Why shouldn't I?"

"Because, I don't deserve it. For the past…week I believe, I've had nothing but nightmares…I can still hear that demon who possesed me words echoing in my head. Even though hes no longer inside me. And at the warehouse, Muraki told me he wanted my body and I was finally able to figure out why…I'm over 70 years old but I haven't aged past 26. Even shinigami get older so that doesn't explain it. And when I was 10…althose people I killed…and my eyes…my…my eyes…"

Tsuzaki collapsed to the floor and Hisoka rushed by his side. Asato cried into the younger man's arms.

"I'm not human! I'm not human!"

Hisoka brought Tsuzaki's head closer to his chest.

"We've already been through this…you are human..you are."

"No…no…" denied Tsuzaki. "If you only knew the truth…"

"Dammit Tsuzaki! The only truth I need is the truth that you are a human being! I don't care about your past! All I care about is now, Tsuzaki I love you!"

Kurosaki pressed his lips into Tsuzuki's and pulled him into a passionate kiss. Tsuzaki closed his eyes and allowed himself to be taken in by the embrace, but fear and shame gripped his heart and stole him away from Kurosaki's. I can't do this, Kurosaki deserves more…so much more than someone like me… Tsuzaki pushed Kuro away.

"Don't waste your love on me! I'm not good enough for you Kuro-Kuro."

"Asato…don't let Muraki win."

"He already has…" replied Tsuzaki wearily as he got up and retreated to his bed.

"Dekakete kudasai.*"

Hisoka got up from the floor and walked to the door, he paused in the doorway and half-turned to Tsuzaki.

"Ok then…But not without promising that Muraki will pay with his life for doing this to you, for stealing away the old Tsuzaki. Tsuzaki, I promise that to you."

Kurosaki left. Tsuzaki stared after him for a moment and then turned his attention back towards the cherry blossom petals dancing in the breeze.

"Arigatou gozaimasu, Kurosaki.*"
