Anari was a beautiful princess who lived in a palace in a far away land that nobody has ever really heard of. Her parents were the king and queen. She has golden yellow eyes, and very dark brown hair. She is a tall, skinny girl, who never got the chance to do anything on her own. Everything was done for her, and she didn’t like things that way because she had such a mind of her own.
It was a rainy day by the palace, and a young princess by the name of Anari had just come home from a royal ball. She sat down in the sage chair next to the balcony and took a deep breath. Anari got back up glanced at the mirror, and silently wished she could do things for her self. As she wished, a comet shot through the sky. Anari undressed, and went to bed, only to find when she woke up, all was the same.
After she woke up, Anari did the same thing she did every morning. She ate breakfast with the king and queen, she attended her lessons, and she had tea. The day went by quickly and Anari soon found herself thinking up an escape plan. Anari would continue through the day, when night falls, her plan would take place. She would pack up all of her most valued possessions, clothes, and anything else she would need to survive in the wild. She would then tie up the blankets and sheets from her bed, and she would tie the “rope” to the balcony.
The only problem was that guards surrounded the palace. She would have to make a disguise or a distraction. After mauling things over, Anari figured it would be much easier to make a disguise, not just because it would require less time needed to think out another plan, but because she didn’t really want the whole palace to find out that she would be escaping that night. Anari decided to fix her hair, she would dye it black. For the clothes that she would wear, she was just going to go to the hamper, and take one of the maid’s uniforms. She would pack up all jewelry that she was wearing so the hoards didn’t suspect anything. If the guards did catch her, she would have a covering over her face, and she would tell them a family member was in grave danger. It was all planed out. The only thing she needed was for darkness to come.
As it started to get darker, Anari changed into her disguise. She packed up everything she needed, and started to tie her covers together when she heard the door knob shake as if it were to open, and then a knock. It was one of the maids.
“Princess Anari, have you seen my uniform. It’s disappeared.”
“No, I’m doing something.”
“Could you keep an eye out for it, please?”
“Yes, I’ll look for it”
“Thank you, Princess”
She thanked the heavens that she had locked her door before she changed into uniform. If she hadn’t she would have been in extreme trouble for taking and wearing the uniforms. Not only that, but her parents would wonder why she was tying her covers together, why she had dyed her hair, and why she had all of her jewelry off. She would have to do a better job next time, if there was a next time.
There was not much time until she would escape. In this leftover time, Anari made some last minute adjustments. She made adjustments to her room, her uniform, what she had packed versus what she hadn’t, and she even left a note. It read as follows:
Mother and Father:
By the time the maid has broken into my room, I will have been long gone. I ran away. I don’t know where I am running to. The only thing I know is that I didn’t like how my life was. I wasn’t enjoying my life because I couldn’t make decisions for myself, and I couldn’t do anything for myself. Don’t bother looking for me, or sending someone else to, you won’t find me. I wanted you to know that I love you very much, and I wouldn’t be the young lady that I am today if it wasn’t for you. If I ever come back, you’ll know to let me make my own decisions.
With all do Respect,
Anari

She hoped this would do justice. She wanted them to know that she really didn’t want to leave, but that she had to leave. She wanted to be treated the right way. How her life was may have been what her parents thought was luxury, but that’s not how Anari saw it.
It was dark outside. She knew she had to leave soon. She was ready to leave. She walked out onto the balcony and tied the rope of covers onto it. She turned back and took one last look at her nice, warm home that she was giving up. A tear ran down her face. She had to leave. Before she started to actually whine, she climbed off the balcony, and onto the rope.
There was no turning back now. She got to the ground. Now all was left was to get to the exit. She would have to run. At last, she was glad she had long legs, so she could run fast. She began to run. A guard saw her, but didn’t catch her. She was not even half-way to the exit, and a guard had already seen her. She kept running. Another saw her. She was now half-way to the exit. There was another guard, but luckily, he didn’t see her. Just a little longer. She was almost there.
She jumped over a bush. All that was left was to get past the gate. The only problem was that there were two guards at the gate. If she was lucky, the guards at the gate would be asleep.
Quickly, she ran past the main gate. Nothing happened. They were asleep! She made the escape. She would still have to run a little farther to get into the woods. She would have to sleep there tonight, since she didn’t have anywhere else to go to.
Anari walked into the woods and knew it would be a long night. There were so many noises that she wasn’t used to: all the creatures, the hard ground, and the weather. After all, it was supposed to rain that night. It would take a long time for Anari to get used to life outside of the palace. She was actually starting to regret running away, but it was too late to go back to life at the palace.
Anari found a soft patch of grass that wasn’t too wet. She would be sleeping there. Hopefully, there would be no search parties out looking for her that night. If there were, she would have to sleep in the trees. She figured that since it was only the first night that she was gone, there would be no parties out. The king and queen probably thought she would be back by morning, that is, if they even got her note she left for them. She got ready to go to bed. She would sleep all alone in an unfamiliar place.
As Anari slowly drifted off to sleep, her parents started to realize that it was rather quiet in the palace. Anari normally wasn’t very quiet. She was normally complaining about how she couldn’t do anything, or running around and talking to the maids or servants. But, today, they realized it was rather quiet. They were getting suspicious.
When Anari woke up, it was the middle of the night. She had a dream. When she tried to replay it through her mind, she couldn’t remember it. That didn’t happen very often to her. Normally she could remember her dreams, but tonight was different. Every time she tried to replay it, she lost more of the dream. Finally, after much confusion, Anari went back to sleep. She had, yet again, another dream.
She was back at the palace, but she wasn’t fully there, it was almost as if she was watching over the palace. As if she was a goddess. She saw her parents. She saw the maids. She saw the servants. They were running around all over the place. It seemed like they were looking for something. Her parents were crying. She was beginning to hear what everybody was saying. They were saying something. They were calling for something. They were calling her name. Her parents were about to say something. She woke up.
She was sad. In the dream she had just had, her parents were sad. They were sad because she was gone. Had they not read the note she left? If they had, they would know she was gone for good. Maybe, they didn’t think to look in her room for her. But why would they cry if they couldn’t find her in the palace? It was a pretty huge place. For all they know, she could be in a wine cellar. They obviously weren’t thinking that night. They were probably so worried that they couldn’t think straight. She had a mind like that too. In fact, everyone she ever knew couldn’t think when they were upset.
