(spoilers!)
I've seen several animation appreciation posts floating around tumblr since Rise of the Guardians came out, and I thought I'd post a couple of them here.
They're mostly in GIFs, but any spoilers that I can censor, I will.
Some comments from tumblr:
Jack’s expression…it just breaks my heart because he wants to be believed in so bad, but he knows that Pitch isn't the way to go.
Oh the temptation though…. and the conflict in his face!
This is a spectacularly subtle scene, but I wish somebody could GIF the shot of Pitch’s face right after Jack refuses his offer… Just before he scowls and plays his next card, there’s a moment of what seriously looks like genuine sorrow.
One of my favourite things about Rise of the Guardians was how much emotion was captured in the scenes - between the voice acting and the animation - and this scene is no exception. It really plays up the conflict about Jack and Pitch being similar and ups the drama. Especially if you watch the scene immediately after this one.
