How character feels/acts around other people in general:
Since he was raised to handle business dealings, Khalil is always polite to those he meets and aims to please others. However, as a result of a trauma he went through, he has difficulty truly trusting or opening up to people.
How open they are with feelings:
Khalil struggles to show his feelings, and sometimes he hates that about himself.
How character feels about different weather (favorites, does it affect their attitudes):
He loves a sunny blue sky (because he can see the blue in the fair daytime sky).
Sense of humor:
He has kind of a wry sense of humor, but he rarely shows it. He has a hard time reading someone else's sense of humor if he doesn't know them well.

Least favorite type(s) of music:
Khalil's not as much of a fan of hard rock/metal and most forms of electronic music. (He says metal is noise and electronic music has no soul.)
Pet peeves:
Being talked down to, being touched by people he doesn't know (though he normally doesn't say anything but just flinches away -- it makes him more uncomfortable than it makes him angry), when people blow off his tutoring sessions (P-H)
How character feels/felt about school:
Khalil enjoys school. He feels a certain sense of stress about it too, since his mother was very strict as far as his grades were concerned. But he loves learning new things.
Sleeping habits:
He has a bad habit of falling asleep wherever he happens to get too comfortable (couches, outside on the lawn/under a tree, etc.). This is even worse when he's fatigued after treatments (D-C) or after a panic attack (when he sometimes will conk out wherever he collapses once the adrenaline wears off, e.g. in the middle of the floor).
How often character cries (What causes them to cry? How sensitive are they?):
He's fairly sensitive, but he usually doesn't allow himself to cry in front of other people. When he's alone, he might cry if he feels homesick or if he remembers something related to how he got his scars. He may also cry if he feels that he failed to protect someone.
Fears (why?):
Khalil fears truly trusting people because his family members -- those he should've been able to trust implicitly -- turned on him or weren't there when he needed them. He also fears losing the few people he is close to.

History (preferably long and detailed):
Khalil had a fairly normal childhood -- going to school and learning to play the violin from his father at 7. By about age 10, his parents began introducing him to their coworkers and business partners and steering him toward stricter schooling.
When Khalil turned 12, he discovered that he could see a color. He didn't understand what it was at first and asked his older brother about it. His brother immediately told their parents. Seeing color was a defect, a disease. Khalil's mother stopped taking him to work-related events and stopped pushing his schooling. On the nights that Khalil's father worked late, his mother and brother started to antagonize him. His brother's verbal bullying escalated to physical abuse that lasted for nearly a year. That was when his brother attempted to blind him. Thankfully, their father intervened.
[D-C] But during treatment at a hospital, Khalil tested positive in a color screening and was registered with the government's treatment facility.
[P-H] When Khalil was admitted for treatment at a hospital, a committee from a special school that secretly protects people who can see color took him into their care.
Typical first impression of character:
Quiet, maybe aloof or stuck-up
Parents (if you want, with looks, personalities, jobs, etc.):
Shawn - Owner of a profitable company. He was a loving father when he made the time to be there for Khalil.
Layla - Prominent member of a small law firm. She was hard-working and strict.
His parents met at university and got married after they graduated.
Relationship with parents:
Khalil's mother was always somewhat aloof due to her strictness, so Khalil had a closer relationship with his father; but his father was rarely home because of his work.
Siblings (if you want, with looks, personalities, etc.):
Derek - Five years older than Khalil. He was fun, but a bit rough, when he was young. As he got older, he grew more cold.
Relationship with siblings:
Khalil got along well with Derek when they were younger. But, as their father started to favor Khalil, Derek drew away from him.
Friends (if you want, with looks, personalities, jobs, etc.):

Elise Lievia - close friends: She is easy to talk to, and they get along well. (D-C)

Ayanim - "little brother?": Khalil feels a kinship with and protectiveness of him. (D-C)
Does history, heritage, or family affect personality/upbringing/tastes and how:
Having been raised in a higher-class family, Khalil has somewhat expensive tastes, especially in food.
His parents' strict expectations have made him a hard worker. He's constantly pushing himself in his studies and does whatever chores or favors are asked of him, as long as they're within his power. He also critiques himself fairly harshly when he practices the violin. Because his parents were sticklers for propriety, Khalil is normally very formal and subdued in his speech.
The abuse he later endured amplified his tendency to keep his thoughts and feelings to himself and triggered his panic attacks.
Habits:
He uses formal speech. He also has a habit of opening doors for people and other things like that.
Extremely skilled at:
playing the violin, arranging musical scores
Extremely unskilled at:
drawing and crafts, most sports (because of his limited depth perception), singing
Optimist or pessimist:
Somewhere in between
Introvert or extrovert:
Leans more toward introversion
Logical or more imaginative/illogical/creative:
Leans slightly more toward creativity
Planning ahead or living in the moment:
Living in the moment
Daredevil or cautious:
Cautious
Confident or unsure:
Unsure
Overall opinion/thoughts about self/self-esteem:
He gets frustrated with himself for not being able to express his feelings. He also feels weak because of his anxiety disorder. Feeling abandoned and betrayed by his family doesn't help his self-image, either.
How character feels about animals:
Khalil doesn't have a particular like or dislike for animals, but he's uncomfortable handling them because he doesn't know how (and animals can be finnicky around him).
Anything else:
Beneath his usual subdued manner and all his anxieties, Khalil is actually rather stubborn. Once he finally gets close to someone or sets his mind to something, he doesn't give up on that person or thing easily.
