Character Descriptions

This is loosely(or heavily) inspired by something me and Chel where talking about recently. Specifically, a couple characters that she's working on, and whether or not we'd work on something together. I decided to make up a few of my own characters, rather than steal hers, because she already has ideas for the personalities of the people that she's working on. Instead, I'll make up a few of my own. They may end up being used in more stories on here when I feel like it. We'll see. Oh, and I'm fond of the personality types in D&D(Lawful, Neutral, Chaotic, Good, Neutral, and Evil) so everybody is going to have that in their description.

Mallus Ferityr is a necromancer and a lord, 35 years old. He is lawful evil. He lives in a small manor, with farms around it. Roughly 40 people live on his property, including servants and farmers. He was married, but his wife passed away from illness several years ago. He also has a son, Terisio, who is 16. Mallus has built several passages under Manor Ferityr, and uses them for his experiments. These often involve seeing how people react to various uses of necromantic magic. The subjects of his experiments are usually servants because the local government might take notice if too many travelers went missing around his manor. Only the servants who perform the abductions have any idea what's going on, and while rumors persist about why people disappear, the abductions are somewhat infrequent because of his efforts to keep the subjects alive. Although he is a necromancer, raising the dead isn't really his specialty. His favorite spell is a short ranged fan of deadly energy that causes anything it touches to begin to rot. This is easily countered by healing magic, but can be fatal if untreated. He is also adept at manipulating darkness and controlling the bones scattered throughout his catacombs. Other spells that he uses include a bolt of the same necromantic power as his fan attack that has a longer range, creating a bone shield, removing natural light from a medium sized area, and a few similar abilities. He appears to be about 50, because many years of working with death have aged him. His left arm has also been completely transformed and is now purely skeletal and held together by magic(Yes, I know this is a very cliche trait, but I like the concept). Anything he grabs with his left hand immediately begins to rot and die and must be treated immediately, preferably by magic. When he knows that he'll be inside his catacombs all day, he wears black robes that are split from the bottom to just above his knees to aid mobility. When it's necessary for him to venture outside of his underground realm, he wears dark gray clothing with dark green, blue, or purple trim. One interesting characteristic about this is that he will always wear boots, pants, a long sleeved shirt, and gloves so that his body is completely covered, even in summer.

Terisio Ferityr is not a necromancer. He is basically incapable of any kind of magic, but knows how to fight, at least a little. His weapon of choice is a warhammer with a spike on the back end of the head. There are two reasons for this. The first is that he prefers something that just takes one powerful swing, and the second is that he enjoys working with the manor blacksmiths in his free time. He also manages the farmers, and they're all familiar with his cruelty. He is a very hateful person and quick to punish anything that he perceives as laziness, usually with his fists. During the summer, he often doesn't wear a shirt at all because he wants to show off how powerful he is. When the weather is cold enough, he'll wear a long sleeved shirt with a black, studded leather jerkin over it. The colors he wears vary based on whatever he thinks is in style at the time. As I mentioned before, he is very quick to anger and tends to misunderstand what people mean, always assuming the worst, mostly because it would give him more of a chance to fight somebody. He can definitely be described as chaotic evil.

Alia is a 14 year old girl who was taken away from her home by bandits when she was 8. Although she managed to escape from them, she was unable to find her way home and no longer wishes to return anyway. She currently lives with the druid that found her in the woods, and spends a good deal of time studying. Having received a great deal of druidic training, she is true neutral and doesn't care much for what happens to most of the world, believing in balance instead. So far, she has been unable to learn even the simplest spells that druids can use. However, she has learned quite a bit about the woods and is skilled at both tracking and hiding. She considers her greatest accomplishment to be sneaking up on a deer and killing it. Although this may seem barbaric, she knows that humans are predators and it kept her and her caretaker fed for some time. She fights with a scimitar called Sylvanscar that her caretaker gave her as well as a dagger that she took from the bandits when she escaped. Eventually she named the dagger Stabby, because she thought it should have a name too. She is usually extremely calm and patient, although she gets excited when she feels like she's done something particularly well. In addition to her skill at tracking and hiding, she can also identify just about any plant and knows what will happen if you eat or combine most of them. She is often required to collect various plants for her caretaker. Her clothing is very simple, consisting mostly of leather and furs. She keeps her hair cut short to keep it out of the way.

Ok, that's enough for now. I had ideas for an archer and a paladin, but I don't feel like writing them up right now. I'll just say this was practice. I don't know what for though, since now I feel like I cheated. Writing up character descriptions is a poor substitute for actual character development.
