WORLD WILL BE RECEIVING A RENO-JOB AS SOON AS TIME ALLOWS! Thankyou for your support and patience!

Hello and welcome to MangaKid and Ikemarth's Artist Cubby!
We hope you all enjoy your time here!

This is a world Ikemarth and I have created after our dear friend Angel Satina gave us this great idea! We wanted to create a place for artists to share their methods, experiences, tips/advice, ect. Its like a club in a community where artist friends can join even closer together^^ We will be posting anything such as our own step-by-step process of creating art, tutorials, art notices/progress, cool artistic videos, before and after pics of artwork, and simple tips as well as answer any questions that you post or have! We hope everyone, including us, will learn new artistic ways and become even more creative together as we experience each others' style. For new artists, we hope to help inspire you and motivate you to continue drawing!

Note: Check out the Cubby's sister world: The Otaku Fellowship by Aryia!!
If you are looking for tutorials on how to make wallies and ecards, please visit our friend Aria Sky's cool world The Ultimate Guide to Creating.
And if you're looking for a neat project to do, check out snow fox's Collaboration Nation!
And for additional awesome art tutorials, definitely check out ekaknr's Artist Cafe!

If you have any questions, feel free to PM MangaKid or Ikemarth! We are accepting guest posters, if you feel that you'd like to join and share your tips with the Otaku!

Rules+Guidlines: -Nothing inapropriate.
-We'd like you all to shorten your posts to new pages but you DO NOT have to shorten your profiles. Please post your profiles normally. We want the other posts to be shortened though as it'll be a lot more organized that way.
-You can post a chibi at the top of your posts if you'd like, but please make sure its small (approx. 300x300 pixels. A bit bigger then that is alright too.)
-No putting down anyone or making them feel uncomfortable (of course, we're all good friends here so I don't think we need to worry about this^^)
-If you join, you are not obligated to post (even though we'd LOVE to see posts from ya!). Feel free to post anytime or not post at all. The main thing is if you enjoy the club, learn new things, and make new friends :)

Feb 16/13-Thankyou everyone!! we've hit 11,111 views^^ Keep up the great work!

Lets Talk Paper

Hi again all.
Do you know what kind of paper I hate drawing on the most, the ones that are used for printing, you know the ones that comes in letter size and legal size.
They are so thin and cant take so much pencil marks, and not to mention erasing on them. The only thing I would probably use them for are sketches, drafts and ideas.

The type of paper I prefer to use are Bristol or what I call Cartridge papers, or I would use any type of paper that tare thicker than those printing paper though. The reason is its because they can take alot of repetition of pencil markings and the hold all details better.

In short im not a fan of thin paper.

If your have any comments or anything else to share please comment :)

Artist Profile: Keba Si Rota

Hey people. Call me Keba, 'cause "Si Rota" is my last name... er... names. And calling addressing by their first and last name is kind of weird. Unless you're addressing Charlie Brown. Then it's OK.

Country: U.S.A.
Age (as of July 2012): 26

Anime/Manga:Instead of typing out my ever-growing list, I'll link to my Anime-Planet profile. You can view my anime list and my manga list, too.
Favorite genres: Action/adventure, sci-fi/fantasy, comedy (although most of the Japanese jokes go over my head).

Video games: I don't really play video games anymore. I'm still a Pokemon fan even though I haven't played the games since Generation II.

Music (I had to add this): I'm mostly into rock, but I'll listen to other stuff, too. My favorite bands/artists are Bon Jovi (betcha couldn't tell by my Fan Art Portfolio), the Goo Goo Dolls, Aerosmith, Linkin Park, SR-71, Green Day, 3 Doors Down, P!nk, Black Lab, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Damone, Vertical Horizon, the Calling, Sarah McLachlan, Tonic, Greenwheel, Rise Against, and Injected. I have almost no taste 'cause I still listen to the stuff I fell in love with at age 17.

Art style: Traditional and some digital
Favorite tools: Sketch/drawing paper, 2B pencil, eraser (doesn't get enough credit), colored pencils, and ink pens.

About me: I've been drawing pretty much as far back as I can remember, but didn't take formal lessons until I was 14. I've always been into cartoons, and I got into anime at age 13 with the poorly-dubbed version of Sailor Moon (still have a soft spot for that series). I started drawing anime characters since about that time, too. Since then, I've been trying to perfect my style. I have a ways to go, but I also think I've come a long way, too. I like to think that I have a great American manga within me, but I don't think I'm yet at the level to execute it yet.

Other things that I like to do are write original stories (and draw the characters), sing, play guitar, write songs, knit, spend time online, read manga, and listen to music.

My ultimate dream is to be a musician. I still need a band, though.

Quick Pen Practice

So I have this sketchbook that I had since 2009 that I haven't finished, and so I decided to use it for quick drawing practice. Sometimes before I sleep, I quickly draw something in it. This one took about 5-10 minutes last night~ xD ...

Borders vs no borders

Does anyone prefer to use borders or not before starting to draw?

Well if yes or no give me your reasons in the comment section.

For me personally I prefer the borders cause it helps with my accuracy when drawing. An example is where if i am drawing a picture, where the size of the picture is rectangular, and the paper i am drawing on is more square-ish, I would make a rectangular border.

Artist profile: Ajan

Hello, I am Ajan
Not sure which pic to use with my profile though, so sorry about that :/

Well thanks to all who invited me to here I feel excited of what I could offer on here and also learn from here.

My current age, 24 (Feels OLD )

Anime & manga: well there is alot of those but my personal favs are fullmetal alchemist, bleach, one piece and Dragon Ball Z.

Games: Ill play anything!

Art style: Traditional (pencils, charcoals, pencil crayons) I also do painting and digital but not so much now.

About me: Well I have been drawing ever since I was a child around 3 or 4, I think my main influence was my brother, since we compete against each other, but he eventually lost interest in it, and cartoons. When I was younger I would only draw characters from cartoons, anime and comic books till when I reach High school I started drawing different things and trying different art types. By time I went to University to study business I started drawing people more but still anime also, and by the time I reached 2nd year I began to improving, which I mainly think its because of my loner personality, and by then I start selling portraits till while selling I gradually learn and improve on skills. Currently im working in the field of Business and im also an artist.
