Hey Club members and any other Otaku who reads this!
Some of you may have heard that our friend Toya had a problem with someone stealing her designs on another art website. She found her designs posted by someone else. The designs were altered a bit but they were definitely her designs.
Its really too bad that this stuff happens. Its not fair at all.
Sometimes we won't even think this will happen to us or our friends, but everyone should take a step back and make sure to be careful. Its super easy for anyone to just copy an artwork from theO. I don't doubt any of my friends and I trust theO community, but other people could come around and it would be great if we could all help each other out. Some of us only stay on theO and do not have a DA or other art site accounts so we'd not notice if anyone transported our artworks to other sites. We're asking you all to please keep your eyes open for anything unusual! I'm sure we'd already help each other out without being told of course^^ We just want to let everyone know!
Adding a signature or water mark to your artworks, or somehow stating copyright might help deter thieves. Being aware, and keeping an eye out for each other will be much appreciated! We've got to stand together against this wrong! Please let anyone know if you see their art or designs posted under different/suspicious account names.
Check out THIS SITE for some good tips.
Here's some advice if you find that someone has stolen your art (advice courtesy of HawaiianBabigirl!)
"Link it and report it.
Also, make sure you contact the poster and POLITELY explain that the design they used is yours and request they at least link back to the original design. A lot of the time, the poster doesn't have bad intentions, they just don't understand copyright.
If the poster is rude in return, then they probably know what they're doing so you can report the art and their comment. Just make sure you stay polite or they will turn your words against you."
Feedback and advice is appreciated! Thankyou!
